Mangrove Jack's Hard Pear Cider Recipe Kit, 6 gallons/23 L

Good cider, took others advise and used half sweetener turned out great will make again.

Don't be discouraged when you first open the fermenter. It will have that "turtle fart" smell that is common with many ciders. After racking to the keg and force carbonating and pulling thr PRV a couple times to vent the off gasses, this cider has a very nice flavor for a concentrate kit. You can taste the pear. I used only half of the sweetening packet and I think using the whole thing would have been too much. Something about the unfermentable sweetener they use gives me a bit of gas, though. I ended up not following the timeline of the directions exactly and it sat in the fermentor for about a month and a half before I kegged it. It ended up being 5% abv which is higher than advertised but other than that there seems to be no detrimental effects. All in all, I would definitely make it again. Curious to try the other flavors now.

Very simple for the beginner and tastes good even for the experienced. They give you the option of adding a sweetener this way you can control how sweet you like it. I added the whole package and of I could do it over I'd probably only put about half, but that's my taste. My family and friends really enjoy it as well. I kegged mine, but I'm sure it would be great in bottles as well. Make sure if you get this, you purchase corn sugar as well. That's the only ingredient (besides water) that's not included.

Followed the instructions and had pretty good results. Note: I added half each of the sweetener and Pear flavor packets. The overall apple flavor is a little on the lighter side. Just kegged it and began force carbonation. The final result will be great for summer refreshment 👍 Did achieve 5.2% abv. Really nice flavor!

First thing: the date on the pouch had expired,!!! I hopping it turns out alright despite the expiration. I'm still waiting on Bottling and trying the Finished product, so more on that on a later date

I have used several different flavors of Mangrove Jacks, and have really enjoyed the plain pear, and also mango raspberry. Recently I wanted to try a different brand, which I won't name, and was really disappointed. So far this is the best I've tried.

Something is off with this kit. Horrible sulfur smell and taste not fit forhuman consumption. Not a novice and followed instructions. Had to dump 6 gallons. What a waste of time.

The kit came with a sweetener that only suggested that if you wanted it fry to add none. If you wanted it semi-sweet add 1/2 of the packet. Or, if you wanted it sweet add it all. Considering I have never made hard cider before and wanted it sweet, I added the entire packet, and it ended up sweeter than I could have imagined. To the extent that I let a friend have it. Had I known better, I would have added 1/2 of the packet.

These kits are easy to use. When opening, there is a wet side and a dry side. Be careful opening. I have found that if you can leave the cider in secondary for extra time, the “just brewed” taste goes away. Pear tastes like pear! Definitely buying this again!

First time making this Pear Cider kit. So far we are enjoying it having bottled it a couple of weeks ago. We found it is fizzy pouring it into the glass but not so much in the mouth. Don’t know if that is normal. Instructions didn't give any option other than carbonation drops for priming. We used corn sugar at 180g for priming. It's about what I use for beer but maybe this needs a little more. Since making this we ordered another kit so we'll try a little more and see where that goes. Great kit with quick delivery. Would like to see the mixed berry kit available here too. Update: We are have now consumed about half of cider made in our first kit. It is now perfectly carbonated. Think I opened the first bottle too soon and made a quick judgment. Fantastic, bubbly flavour in mouth. I think I’ll be making a lot more of this rather than wine.
