Finally - the best cooling pack, now available in lunch bag size! 12+ hours - test results here.
If like me, you have been waiting for Cooler Shock to release a small-size version of their cooler pack for lunch bags, wait no longer - this is what you need in your life right now. Two months ago after I bought the medium pack ( 4 Mid Size Cooler Freeze Packs 10"x 9" - No More Ice! Cooler Shock Replaces Ice & Reusable. You Add Water & Save! ) and discovered arguably the best cooling pack on Amazon (don't take my word for it, read the reviews over on that product page), I came across a comment left by a Cooler Shock rep that they are working on a small size suitable for lunch packs, and I have been waiting patiently ever since. The medium pack is unparalleled in its performance - after an entire day at the office, I'll come home and my drink is still frozen. The issue that I and many others had was that the medium pack is a tiny bit too large in both dimensions for lunch bags - I had to fold the edges in to get it to fit. Well the solution is finally here. This lunch bag size cooling pack is the best of all worlds: - It uses the same tried-and-true material as other Cooler Shock packs: a phase-change material that can absorb an enormous amount heat without itself warming up. - The screw cap seal is the easiest to set up by far: prepping 4 medium packs with an iron took me almost an hour; by comparison, I had all 5 small packs set up in 10 minutes. - Unless you have a lunch bag for ants, this size will fit all lunch bags. If you can put a typical-sized tupperware in your lunch bag, this cooler pack will fit. - I've used it for a few days now and can confirm 10 hours of cooling. If you work a typical 9 - 5, that's more than enough to keep food at a safe temperature all day long from fridge (morning) to fridge (evening). It won't have the same 24 - 48 hour cooling duration as the medium pack, but that's overkill for lunch bags anyway. The only downside I can think of: - Not ideal for use in ice chests. But that's what the medium and large versions of the Cooler Shock are for anyway. If you have used Cooler Shock's other packs in the past, you know how good they are, and you won't be disappointed in the lunch bag packs. ==EDIT== I've now tested the Cooler Shock in an insulated lunch bag, sitting in a room kept at 70°F, monitored with a thermocouple - see the results in the picture. The ice pack started from the freezer at 4°F, reached 32°F at 10.1 hours, and reached 40°F (the maximum recommended temperature for keeping food refrigerated) after 12.2 hours - corroborating reviews from others reporting the ice packs lasting up to 12 hours.

Good and affordable
Bought these ice packs because i was looking for something have duty that would last when we go on road trips or when we have parties around the house that way we wouldnt have to keep buying ice. The packs work great and when used with a good cooler they have kept things cold for multiple days without having to refreeze them. These were a fraction of the price of name brand ones and have been worth every penny.

No more ice for the cooler for me.
I no longer buy ice for the cooler. These are COLD and using multiple packs and a good cooler, they last longer than is. Additionally, not ice-melt to deal with. Highly recommended. The only downside, is they take up a foot-print in my freezer, but that is where they live so they are always ready.

Pretty Good, way better than regular ice for hot days!
When I ordered these with the "some assembly required", I was prepared to be really irritated that I had to do the work to save them the money. But what I found was, it was actually fun putting it together and I was afraid of potential leaks, but out of the 5 I ordered (lunch size), all have had no issues whatsoever, which is surprising as I am not the IKEA assembly guy at all. I expected it would fail and it didn't.... not one drop spilled. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 (should really be 4.3 ish) is their claims of 8 hours of "as cold as ice". That may be the case if you are using them at room temp, but I bought them to keep beers cold for a 4-5 hour golf round in 95 degrees and for that, it worked, but was dying after 4 hours and the beer was maybe 40 degrees... I prefer 34-36 degrees. Yes I am a beer prima donna. Skeptical on the 8 hour claim, and that is why I did not give 5 stars. But for what I needed, it worked great!!! Maybe the larger versions were the 8 hour ones. Meh. But these things coming out of a very cold freezer will burn your hands, be very careful! They are so flipping cold! Protect your hands if using a very cold freezer or you may get frostbite. If you doubt the colder than ice claim, put it in a deep freezer and lose a few fingers if you are not careful taking it out... Overall, no issues at all with the lunch size pack of 5. Durable, convenient, and definitely way better than ice, and other non-ice solutions we have used. And for me and my wife the money was well spent for sure. For 5 stars, and this is not just for this product, promise less and deliver a bit more. But this is pretty awesome compared to a lot of other products we have tried. We are considering the larger versions, based on the performance of the smaller items and may update this review based on that. May yet get 5 stars, we will see. 8.8/10 Have recommended to friends and family. Place this in the best triple walled cooler and you may have a cold beer next week... or at least a 40 degree beer....

Efficient Cooling
These are some very efficient cooler packs! They're easy to set up (just follow the instructions closely and fill with water properly) and they freeze in a slim rectangular profile. They're not too heavy and they're perfect for my small soft-sided cooler. Two of them is enough to keep all of my drinks and snacks cold while they wait in the car when I go hiking.

Keeps my milk cold all shift!
I’m an exclusive pumping mom so I was looking for ice packs to keep my milk cold all day while I work. I use these with my Yeti Hopper 8 and they’re the perfect fit. Kept my milk ice cold but not frozen! Highly recommend, they’re good quality. They don’t take up a lot of space in my cooler.

RN Mom Tested: Slim Ice Packs That Stay Cold All Shift Long
I’ve been using these ice packs for about 3 months, and they’ve been holding up extremely well. The quality is impressive, and once prepared correctly, they work exactly as advertised. Important tip: Make sure to follow the directions closely. These do not work immediately. The instructions state to freeze the packs for at least 8 hours before use, which is necessary for best performance. I work at a hospital and pump breast milk during my shifts, so keeping my milk cold is non-negotiable. These ice packs keep everything ice cold for over 12 hours, which honestly impressed me. The night before work, I freeze two medium-sized packs, then place them in my cooler bag in the morning. I lay them flat while freezing so they are pretty slim, which makes it easy to stand them upright in my cooler later. The packs are very slim and space-saving, which I love—but be aware that the corners are quite sharp, so handle them carefully. The bag itself looks sleek with its black color and feels very high quality and durable. As for setup: the directions are clear, but the process is a bit particular. I’ll admit I had my husband help me because precision matters here. One key step is measuring 28 oz of water and letting it sit for a few minutes to release air bubbles (this is important!). You pour the water in using the included funnel, do not add the silicone plug yet, close the screw cap, and shake vigorously to mix the contents. Then you remove the cap again and gently squeeze out excess air before sealing it completely. If you carefully follow the instructions, you’ll be totally fine. Overall, these ice packs are reliable, long-lasting, and well-designed. I plan to purchase a larger size for our big cooler for beach trips. Highly recommended for working parents, breast milk storage, travel, or anyone who needs serious cooling power.

Be wary of leaks
As I was looking at buying more ice packs I wanted to point out some flaws with the soft cooler shock ice packs. While they did keep the cooler cold, albeit not as long as they state, the softer packs have edges that aren’t razor sharp but are sharp enough that I’ve gotten myself a couple of times. Of the 7 I originally bought, smaller and larger size, only 2 have survived. All the others developed a leak, it’s always in a different spot but the point of failure is always the same. The frozen contents inside can produce a sharp point that will puncture the bag itself causing the insides to leak out all over your food/drinks. Yes I did get 5 years of use out it but it wasn’t all that lasted that long

Fantastic Purchase!
It works exceptionally, I am really happy for my purchase. I tried to find the best cost/effectiveness and this was the result, it made me discover that the lunch bags we have has bad insulation. They are exceptionally cold for a minimum of 12 hours (in bad insulation) so I'm excited to use these in coolers for summer camping. Thank you so much for making a great product that's also fun to make! No regrets for this purchase.

Packaging not tough but enough
