Comfort it has
I'm given a 3 star because I've not really and a chance to use it yet,had to get an usb adapter for it to use with cellphone. I I do like them there strong and flexible & fit tight on head and ears. I really would have to come back to give the rest of my review. Like the style of it. Not to be wireless.

I bought these excellent headphones to complement my Philips Fidelio L1s, X2s and my Sennheiser HD598SRs after seeing a cracking review of them on YouTube. Having had them for about six weeks now I am every bit as delighted with the sound quality as I was when I first heard them. They are also better to my ears than Audio Technica's ATH-M50X headphones which despite being very well made are very uncomfortable, sound far too closed in and are noticeably sibilant. Not so with these beauties which have a very revealing and balanced sound suitable for both monitoring and pleasure listening. They are also more spacious sounding than I was expecting which is another plus for me. I would also say that the build quality is generally very good. The plastic for example is of a high quality and the moulding is very precise and sharply defined. The headband material appears to be of a decent quality and helps create a largely comfortable listening experience. All is not perfect however and I find the earpads, which although well made and durable could be made of better material and could also be deeper as my right ear has a tendency to press slightly on the driver cover. The headband adjustment on either side could also do with being notched to allow for easier adjustment. There is also an issue with noticeable creaking noises in the earcups due to head movement when listening. This is far more noticeable than on any other of my headphones so I try to keep my head still when listening. Finally the headphones also fold in rather too easily when being handled as they are designed to be folded for convenient storage in a smaller case than usual. This is less of an issue than the other points raised though as once they are fitted this isn't troublesome. Finally then these headphones easily give the best overall sound quality of all my other headphones and at the £83 they cost me are something of a steal and would easily give far costlier headphones a run for the money in the sound quality stakes. I genuinely believe these HPH-MT5s are underpriced and if Yamaha could just tweak what they have here in terms of the points mentioned above and improve the comfort they'd have an outright winner on their hands that they could easily charge £120 for. Incidentally, some of my audio gear used for listening to these and my other cans includes a Marantz CD63 MkII KI Signature CD player, Marantz CD5005 CD player, CJ Walker CJ55 turntable/LinnLVV tonearm/Nagaoka MP110 cartridge, Yamaha AX-596 amplifier, Yamaha AX-392 amplifier, Beresford 7510 DAC/headphone amp. Update (15/04/19): I'm still really enjoying the sound of these headphones and stand by my original review. I do however think they lack a degree of warmth that makes them less suitable for some genres and they can become a bit 'shouty' and thin with some vocal performances I have tried them with. I have now added a new pair of Audioquest Nighthawk Carbon headphones to my collection for £350 and they are definitely the best headphones in my collection so the HPH-MT5s aren't seeing as much action at the moment. However, one definite advantage of the MT5s over the Nighthawk Carbons is their closed-back design which makes them far better suited to using in noisier environments or when I'm relaxing next to my beloved, particularly if she's munching on crisps and the like. Update (23/12/19): After adding some Nightowl Carbons, AKG K712 Pros and Yamaha HPH-200s to my growing collection of headphones I have still have plenty of love for the HPH-MT5s. Not only do they hold their own against the much more expensive cans I own but they still have one of the most balanced portrayals of the music I play. Another plus is that they isolate far better than the other closed backs in my collection. Highly recommended!
