This sanity-saving guide “offers practical ways to help you let go of ‘mom guilt’ in order to become a happier, healthier woman” ( Parent & Child ). Now with wellness tips and exercises! The pressure on women today has pushed many American mothers to the breaking point. It feels as if “doing your best” is never enough to please everyone, and the demands mothers place on themselves are both impossible and unrealistic. Now Meg Meeker, M.D., critically acclaimed author of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, puts her twenty-five years’ experience as a practicing pediatrician and counselor into a sound, sane approach to reshaping the frustrating, exhausting lives of so many moms. Mothers are expected to do it all: raise superstar kids, look great, make good salaries, volunteer for everything, run errands, keep a perfect house, be the perfect wife. Single mothers often have even more demands—and less support. In this rallying cry for change, Dr. Meeker incorporates clinical data and her own experience raising four children to show why mothers suffer from the rising pressure to excel and the toll it takes on their emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual health. Too many mothers are increasingly lonely, anxious, depressed, and unhappy with themselves, refusing to let themselves off the hook. Here, Dr. Meeker has identified the 10 most positive habits of mothers who are healthy, happy, and fulfilled. The key is to embrace a new perspective and create real joy and purpose by utilizing such core habits as • making friends with those who know the meaning of friendship • finding out what money can buy (and what it cannot) • lightening the overload—and doing less more often • discovering faith and learning how to trust it • taking some alone time and reviving yourself Mothers, it’s time to view the unconditional trust that you see in your children’s eyes when they take your hand or find your face in a crowd as a mirror of your own wonder and worth. You are the light that shines in their lives, the beacon that guides them. By implementing the key strategies in Dr. Meeker’s book, you can be happy, hopeful, and a wonderful role model. You can teach your children to be the very best they can be—and isn’t that still the most precious reward of motherhood? Review: Love this book! - Such a great easy read. I am currently pregnant with my second son and have a four year old at home. This book can be picked up and started without losing any ground between working and home life. I only have a few minutes here and there and this is something that I was able to enjoy. Wonderful tips on how to simplify your thoughts and life to get back to you as a person and a mother. I am excited to read her other books and take a moment or two to focus on me. Love it and am so pleased with this purchase. Would definitely buy again. Review: Completely awesome book! - This book is about being a happy mother. It is not about disciplining your children in any way. It is about what we can do as mothers to take care of ourselves on a daily basis. The author's writing is deep and concrete. I loved the questions she asks and the stories she uses to illustrate her book. I highly recommend this book to mothers who want more balance in their life and want to be happier as mothers. It is not geared specifically toward one group of mothers. It applies as much to mothers who work to those that don't. I am giving these books out as Christmas presents this year. It is that good.

Must Read for Every Mom!
This book has confirmed the route I was going and also enlightened me in many areas of the path I've taken on parenting. If you are wanting to get out of the lifestyle of continually comparing yourself to other moms and find your purpose as a mom and know exactly what you are meant to do with your children, then this book is for you. I truly enjoyed the book from beginning to end and am so happy I read it. Life is too short to spend your time figuring out what your suppose to do in regards to society's standards. Find out for yourself what you are meant to do by implementing these 10 habits! You will for sure have true Joy and Peace in your parenting role!

Good secular advice from a Christian author
Good secular advice from a Christian author. It could be a little shorter, as all mom books could be, and I thought some of the examples were a little unrealistic. For example, she recommends having a friend who can drop anything for you (and you for her) and gives the example of a younger mom and an older mom striking up a friendship. When the younger mom's husband gets sick with cancer, and older mom drops everything to help the younger mom. She was able to do this because he kids were self sufficient at that point (maybe high school or college). It was a wonderful story, but how many of us can just go out and find a conveniently older mom to befriend? I would have appreciated a more likely/natural pairing.

A Long Road to Happiness
It took me almost 4 months to read this book, in part because I was so busy and failed to priotize it. This book truely is and has helped me to sharpen my saw, and renew my spirit. In my busy life it is very easy for me forget my friends, especially my old friends because we are in such differant places in our lives now. I felt good that I had some of the habits well under way, and that others I had practiced and stopped. I have been facing a tough transition in my life, and this book helped me to understand what makes happiness and consequently what drives unhappiness.

Great book for parents
This is a great book with a ton of useful tips for parents, especially mothers. A lot of times we are so caught up with everything we have to do as parents that we forget to be happy. This book really makes you stop and think so you can break the cycle of living each day exhausted and unhappy. AND also gives tons of great tips so you can apply to your life and take steps to find joy in parenting!

Whiny Narrator on Audiobook
Overall I like the content of the book. However, the narrator's voice is completely unsuited to the content! Her voice grated on me to the point where I would switch it off. I would recommend reading the hard copy instead. As one reviewer remarked there is scarce mention of the role of the father/husband and way too much focus on female friends. (Personally I think marriage is the center of the family.) Other than that there are many useful tips and observations about how we focus on the wrong things and how simple the remedies to our problems are!

共感できなかった
Faith, God..
