Long lasting, Slow wearing, Fast cutting, High polish, Great case
Phenomenal stone to have. Ive had this shapton 2000 for a little over 2 years now and it has served me so well. Between a beautiful polish and a razor edge theres really not much better you can get. This stone is slow wearing and very hard so it can handle some tough steels. It cuts fast like a 1200 stone but leaves a polish like a 3000. This could absolutely be a finishing stone if you dont want to go higher, i have a few shapton stones ranging from the 1000 grit to 12000 grit and every one of them is just a joy to work with. The Korumaku 1000 is my workhorse and sees the most use but when i go for a polish or less toothy edge this is the stone i grab to use. Im not sure how much it cost now but i bought it for $50 and it has absolutely been worth the price and i see this stone lasting for a VERY long time. Shapton stones are always closer to 2-3/4ths wide than 3 inches but it means pretty much nothing. Shapton is my go to brand for whetstones and always will be. I dont use their cases for a stone holder since ive got a seperate one but when i did use them they were always a pleasure, never any slipage and held the stone in place exactly as youd want it to.

Great quality stone
0 regrets for buying the set of 1k and 2k of this brand. Perfect to touch up and maintain my morakniv knives

Excellent intermediate stone
I had the Shapton Pro 1000 and 5000 grit stones and a 320 grit DMT Diamond Stone to set the initial edge. I was getting good and consistent results with this combination but felt that I just wasn’t getting the sharp but reasonably durable and longer lasting edge that I wanted. I also have a ceramic sharpening rod of 2000 grit that I use to touch up the edge in between sharpenings with my stones. I was actually improving the edge beyond the initial stone sharpening so I thought that using a 2000 grit stone would improve the initial edge. I bought this Shapton Pro 2000 and sharpened my four most used knives using the entire stone sequence of 320/1000/2000/5000. Each of my knives, a stainless steel Japanese Santoku, a Henckel Chef knife, a Henckel utility knife and a flexible Victorinox boning knife had the best edges that I have ever been able to produce. They all have very sharp, very smooth edges that seem to be very durable so far. I will continue to use my ceramic rod to touch up the edges but if I didn’t have it I would touch it up with this Shapton 2000 grit. This was an excellent addition to my original stones and therefore for me was an excellent value.

Great finishing stone if this is as high grit as you go.
Awesome stone. Definately want a #1000 stone to work on before going to this #2000.

Nicely bridges the orange-to-purple gap.
I normally prefer only Arkansas stones. But these splash and go ceramics have really grown on me! I got my first one just a couple years ago to maintain a custom in a really hard tool steel, and immediately was buying more. This 2000 VERY nicely fixes the gap between the orange 1000 and the purple 5000. It has excellent feedback and requires much less flattening than the other ceramics I've used. And it cuts pretty fast!

Good finish stone produces a clean edge
I'm sharpening kitchen knives, so I don't need a mirror polish finish. What I do need is a sharp, clean edge, which this stone never fails to produce. I look at my edges und a microscope, and I rarely see much of a burr after using this stone.

O produto é ótimo, mas veio porcamente embalado, com a embalagem externa quebrada, como tudo que é enviado pela Skypostal. Por sorte a pedra está intacta, e como estou precisando dela, não vou solicitar a troca
