You just press it down on the toilet rim to adjust the size, and when the bathroom lights go out, the toilet light comes on. The light is very bright and you can press the button to have it cycle through colors or stop on a specific color. I was initially concerned that it might fall off just by looking at it, but it has stayed on well with no issues.
