Worked perfectly! Contains a flashable EEPROM. I was able to generate a custom EDID with timings/resolution for my ipad screen and flash it back to the dongle. Now I can use it an additional monitor with the native resolution.

Nice and small. Allows you to restrict video transcodes to the onboard display adapter. Without a monitor detected, transcoding is usually disabled. This device allows you to take advantage of Quick Sync with your Intel UHD 630 or 750 IGP for a better end result with lower power usage. Your discrete display adapter is freed up for gaming or design. My UHD630 and i7-9700K with 32 gigs of RAM exceed the transcoding capacity of my Radeon RX580. Plug in and reboot. In Windows, go to Settings > Display. Set Multiple Displays to to "only show on 1/2". Now click Graphics. Find your transcoding applications either on the list or by adding a "classic" or "desktop" app and browsing to its .exe file. In the case of Plex, you will want both Plex Media Server.exe and Plex Transcoder.exe. Depending on your operating system, select the "power saving" designation or the specific display adapter. Fire up a transcode and watch the activity in Task Manager > Performance to confirm.

Cheap and easy to use. This is what I was looking for when building my server.

I bought this so that I could remote into an Ubuntu system remotely and still be able to view the desktop in full 1080p rather than 600x400, or so. There is probably another way to do this, but this was easy and it worked perfectly. The only reason I'm giving this 4 rather than 5 stars, is that I tried to do the same thing with a Window's PC, and it just destroyed the operating system for some reason. Go figure. So anyways for any non-Windows users out there (or at least for ones at my skill level) I'd definitely recommend this product.

Works like a charm. I needed something to fool my remote desktop software into thinking there was a monitor attached, and this worked. Been working all afternoon and no issues so far.

Works like a charm. Plugs into an HDMI port and reports a slew of display resolutions that you can set in order to change display resolution while using remote desktop software. On my Mac, the dongle reported 30 display resolutions ranging from 4096x2160 (4k) to 800x600 (SVGA). Most common aspect ratios are covered (1.9:1, 16:9, 16:10, 4:3). There are no UltraWide aspect ratios or "tall" aspect ratios (like 3:2 on the HP Spectre x360 13.5).

Doesn't seen to enable a display using SuperDisplay app. Very disappointed. waste of money

NOT sure why others saying different things in the reviews but... the ghost is DEFINITELY 4K. As they're stating. Of course you can select a lower resolution but it does support 4k as it states clearly. I was a bit hesitant so hopefully that helps those who are not sure. I was going to get the CompuLab ghost but I saw a few reviews where the head of the ghost was literally broken off inside the pc and the price at the time was higher than this almost twice. As of design, the plastic feels weak in way that it is best kept in the system without having to constantly plug it in and out every day... Maybe get an extension adapter or something but honestly still its pretty good for the price even if it beaks compared to the compulab at twice the price at the time... All I had to do was literally just plug it in and reboot...and 4K resolution on a ghost display. For those who will be using a ghost display even if something else definitely go with splashtop to control that ghost screen with especially if you're running cpu heavy programs on the ghost display/ device. And I tried it all... team viewer, join.me etc... they were beyond slow and some even crashed on me.

Just what I needed for my Ubuntu machines that don't run headless. I have bought a few of these and never really had any issues with them, just install and forget and they do the job. The led on the backside is a cool option but I can see how that can also be annoying.

Small, elegant and works perfectly. When connected, my PC sees it as a 4K monitor. This makes steam streaming sessions work properly with no additional monitors connected. I have wanted to hide my big PC away in the basement with ethernet and no monitor and stream content from it, to create a quiet, serene home office, and this headless ghost lets me do that! Love it.
