Rust Dissolver Jelly, 8 oz

This stuff is fantastic. I had an old pair of Felco pruning shears that had seized up from rust. I was going to toss them and buy a new pair. But, they now cost $150! So, I figured I'd try this rust removing gel. I read the reviews and instructions and now have some insights. It is a liquidy gel, with the consistency of a thick syrup. Think corn syrup. I used a small, natural haired brush to glop it onto the rusty areas. I let it sit for 30 minutes and wiped it off. It's corrosive, so make sure you line your work area with newspaper or plastic. The first layer of rust wiped off. It also removed the metal plating on the ferrule of the brush I was using (so wear gloves). I repeated this four times. During the last two, I took a small flat head screwdriver and started scraping off the oxidized gunk. The shears are looking much better and now they open/close better. As for smell, people here complained about the strong odor and the directions say to use it in a well-ventilated place. So, I did this all outdoors. I was surprised it did not smell as strongly as I was expecting, so I'm not sure what people were complaining about. Perhaps I'm more used to being around noxious solvents. I would not say it's odorless, but the smell is not terrible. That said, I would not use it indoors, unless there's no other choice and you open all of your windows nearby. The thickness of the gel makes it pretty easy to control. I didn't drip any accidentally. Value for the money is excellent. I highly recommend this. Wear gloves, use a natural haired brush (this might dissolve synthetic brushes), and have a whole bunch of paper towels ready, just in case. Now that I have this, I'm going to go through the toolbox and start cleaning up each rusty tool. Good luck with your project!

I really cannot believe it. This product actually works as advertised. I have tried others and sent them right back this one however really does a good job. I hardly recommend it.

I bought an old chest freezer to convert into a cold plunge. The freezer had some rust spots both inside and outside. I used a small paint brush to apply this dissolver jelly and the rust was gone within about 5 minutes. It works exactly as described and satisfied my need.

WARNING!!! Product arrived and was enclosed in a bag inside a box. However, it did leak into the bag. I picked up the bag holding it for just seconds and brought it to the sink. I rinsed off my hand. I walked away to break down the box the product arrived in and I noticed my hand was hurting. The pain became worse and my hand started swelling. I washed my hand a dozen times and kept it running under water but the pain was still there as well as swelling. I had to go to emergency where I can my hand under cold water for 30 minutes. I had tingling and some swelling for days. Grateful I didn’t blister. Had a mild chemical burn from touching almost no product for just seconds. Horrible!!!!!

Works but longer time to wait than stated on container. My first try was 15-30 minutes as stated. Results were not as desired. Tried again and left the gel on for about 2+ hours. Results were much better.

This stuff was great! I put a small amount on a rust spot on the roof of my car and I watched the rust lift right off. Be aware, it also removes paint. I covered the entire area with primer and repainted afterwards and it looks good

the product works to remove rust, is not perfect, more work is needed to really clean off the residue. the product seems to have a stronger smell so face mask is very important, The product does not seem to remove the very heavy duty rust, even after applying more than 5 times, nothing, it does not penetrate deep it will do thin surfaces only, so thick corrosion will need a machine/special tools to manually remove. Gloves are a must this is still strong. For the price is too high for the amount of jelly you get, maybe this was originally a liquid but it sat a very long time and became jelly i dont know that. So its more of a gamble, if you have a serious project try something else, but for small un important projects this is OK

This stuff works like magic. Follow the directions and poof the rust is gone. I really like this stuff. Highly recommended

Works great - just set and give it some time and will remove all rust
