Anyone who has this belt, have you tried it with a handgun holster?

No I haven't, but I believe that you will be just fine it is a sturdy heavy duty belt

what are the dimensions of this item

I ordered 58 inch to get extra length. It came in at 63 inches from tip of prong to tip of belt. 5 inches longer than stated. I guess to give buckle cover up and under and thru the leather loop. Will end up cutting off 8-10 inches. BUT GOOD BELT! I will order a 54" next time for a 52 inch waist.

What size would i need if i wore a 54 inch belt and wanted this to set slightly lower on the hips

I would go with a 58 inch belt if you wanted it to set lower on the hips.
