Great tent!
** Just received this tent, and set it up out in the backyard. Quick set up for the first time after having watched some videos of how to do it, and the setup was a snap, although it took me longer as this was my first time, and I’m old as well, but it went quickly for the most part with erection of the tent in full form coming in at about 15 minutes for me fully staked out. ** I set it up in the backyard prior to a hellish thunderstorm system, and she weathered the storm perfectly fine… no rain inside of the tent whatsoever, and it rained hard for two and a half days straight without a single leak. Very impressed with its performance in elements like that. ** The 10’ x 10’ VX tent is built like a tent should be… extremely well constructed. ** A little on the heavy side, but a person whom is in good shape shouldn’t have much issue in toting it from the car/truck to the campsite. ** If you want a guarantee out of the box that the tent won’t leak, then this is the tent for you. Well constructed and built like a tank. Highly waterproof to withstand the elements from Mother Nature, and easy to set up with more than ample room for one person and a beagle. ** I’m highly impressed with the construction and build of this particular tent, and if you can afford it, it’s well worth the money to insure a good nights sleep when the weather gets rough (which it eventually will)… You either pay for it upfront, or it will eventually end up costing you big time with a wet and soggy tent, along with all of your belongings… The decision is yours.

the tent you wish you already had
I camp Yearly at a 2 week long event. for 6 years I struggled keeping warm having experienced everything from flooding to tent collaps to ripping of zippers to tearing while putting up. Kodiak Canvas is a product i'd stand happily for, its simply a win. The quality is heavy duty, now its is actually heavy and a bit bulky but they do offer you a really nifty bag to store the tent in thats included. I put the tent together first try in about 15minutess without reading the instructions. I love mine and would say if you got the money dont be Wet, Never worry about ripping off a zipper with your big hands.. because i get it... i got tired of being wet and cold... get yourself this and the whole camping becomes glambing, also the huge side windows are amazing because you can let so much air in and the tent can really get some airing out if need be. treat yourself

Best tent in the market but….
This the perfect tent. Not a dealbreaker but the free ground tarp is a smaller footprint than the 10x10 tent. I couldn’t stake all corners with the tent.

Superb Tent!!!
The 10x10 VX Kodiak Tent is the best choice to make! Definitely worth the $$$ Here's why: Perfect size for two if using cots. Have squeezed three before but tight. Most National Park tent pad sites are not much bigger than 10x10 so likely it will fit. The floors in Kodiak tents are awesome!! There one of the best I have come across in a canvas tent like this. It's SO nice to unzip all six windows on the hot days. It's like a screen house when in it. I have been camping when a high wind and then major down pour came about. This tent withstood both adverse weather without damage! Though I did not buy mine off of Amazon when I saw this 6011 model for sale here I had to give it a review. I have this tent and the Kodiak 6014 (10x14) as well. Great product!! PS if you get the tent and they have sticky zippers get a silicone spray that does not stain fabrics (a dry silicone type spray) they will make zippers glide after. These tents do have the best zippers on the market YKK zippers. Just with the D doors they can get sticky once in awhile.

Outstanding Tent
This is the greatest tent I’ve ever come across. I spent countless hours researching the Kodiak vs. Springbar. This Kodiak has knocked it out of the park. Very high quality material, love the side windows for enhanced ventilation. Very easy solo set up (under 15 minutes). Classic design and outstanding camping tent.

Buy this tent!
This tent is great. Sturdy and held up against the wind really well. Plenty of room to stand up in and move around. Highly recommend. On a side note Fedex poked a hole in the box and it put a hole in the tent pole bag. Shipper was fast to respond and sent a replacement bag.

Missing the tarp
Giving 3 stars because the tent really looks good, but I haven’t set it up yet. The problem is that it doesn’t come with the tarp as is stipulated. Contacted Competitive Sports Products and they solved the problem. They were professional. I wish I had purchased directly from them.

This is their 'newest' version and includes the ground tarp.
This VX version seems to be the better deal than the non-VX. You get two extra windows and the tarp included (it's a $39.99 option for the other models.) This is listed as their 'newest' design. Just now set it up and everything looks good, no problems. You need to unzip at least one of the doors before trying to use the side poles, to let air in. Some say it takes two people, I'm retired and I did it by myself and I even have a lifelong lower back injury. The bottom MUST be staked down BEFORE installing the two side poles, otherwise the tent will simply fall over to one side. I'm going to order some spiral stakes as I know some spots I plan to visit are mostly sandy. A few have noticed that the poles have some black residue that can get on your hands (and hence on the tent while putting it up). I wiped them down with paper towels but only found the residue on the two main side poles, so watch for that so you won't have to clean it off your brand new tent. I got the 10' x10' and it's really big. Two adults will have more than enough room for cots, or stretching out on a big air mattress. Two adults and some kids will start pushing the limit of available space, especially if everyone is using a cot, but of course it's not like you're going to live in it for months at a time. The instructions say to set it up and 'season' it before an actual campout. They want you to lightly spray water on the outside and let it dry in the sun, to make any pinholes from the stitching shrink up and seal the canvas to make it rainproof. There's a youtube video of someone complaining that water got in when he was blasting it with a hose nozzle. He didn't bother reading the instructions. It's a heavy tent/bundle, partly because of the metal pipes and stakes, so this is NOT for hiking to a campsite unless other people can share the load. I plan to use my big-wheeled dolly for transporting from a parking lot to a campsite if needed and the terrain will allow it. I'm already looking into a way to strap it to my motorcycle along with a sleeping bag and some bare essentials for off the beaten path camping without the hiking.
