Used to confirm or question dealer's diagnosis
High quality construction. Arrived quickly on Prime. BACKGROUND I used it to confirm (?) the Honda dealer's diagnosis of "coolant was two quarts low -- seeing bubbles in the radiator -- don't drive it -- must diagnose further." After they saw bubbles, they said the opened up the engine and gave it a leakdown test. All cylinders less than 3%. Then they said they needed to do a "five-gas" test, but didn't have time that evening. They wanted to keep it overnight and do more work on it, but that didn't work for our schedule. I kind of wondered why they didn't do that ten minute long "five-gas" test first before spending an hour tearing into the engine. And I wondered why they didn't just spend the five minutes it takes to use one of these testers. The story was a little fishy, or maybe they were just clumsy and less than highly skilled. Anyway, I didn't trust them 100% at that point, so I needed a second opinion. ENTER THE BLOCK TESTER TOOL Used my tester. Lots of YouTube videos available if you're not familiar. They basically follow the proper directions on the card. Lower the radiator level by 2-3 inches with a turkey baster. Fill the tester. Place tester tightly over the radiator opening and start working the bulb to draw the gases through it for ONE MINUTE. 1) I ran the engine warm. Didn't see bubbles. 2) I took it on the interstate for a while. Didn't see any bubbles. 3) I tried it from dead-cold overnight. Still didn't see any of the bubbles mentioned by the dealer. After each visual test I ran the Block Tester with fresh fluid. Pretty much the fluid stayed imperial royal blue. Fresh fluid for each test. After one of the tests just for fun, I waved it in the exhaust tailpipe plume -- instant translucent hot chrome yellow. So the fluid works, but it just didn't find any combustion gases in the radiator. Also, after one of the tests I kept vigorously pumping for at least another five minutes and it went slightly off of the deep imperial royal blue (almost faintly indigo) toward being still strongly blue but having the slightest hint of aqua. I had some concern. But then I also tested with fresh fluid out in the clean air, and it took again about five minutes of vigorous (spastic?) pumping go get that slightest hint of aqua. Conclusion here, again, is there there were no combustion gases present in the coolant system. I wonder what the Honda mechanic saw? CONCLUSION This tester is awesome. Super easy to use. I would recommend it to friend.

Worked great
It worked so well in fact I thought it wasn't working. I pumped and pumped, waited, nothing. I for sure was expecting my issue to be exhaust gasses from a blown gasket. There was not, the fluid didn't detect any. I put the nozzle of the tool near the exhaust, and took 1 pump of the exhaust and it immediately turned yellow. Clear as day. I'm very confident this tool saved me time troubleshooting an issue that didn't exist. I figured out it was a bad radiator cap all along. December 22, 2025. I've since used it on multiple vehicles. And additionally this same jeep I originally bought it for unfortunately. I was getting a misfire on startup in one cylinder that would go away after 10 or so seconds. Figured there's fluid in the cylinders, like coolant. I tested the rad again wjth this tester and well I guess I have a blown gasket now. Going to limp it into spring and do the heads. This is an essential tool for quick diagnostic.

easy way to know if your head gasket is toast
This thing is really simple to use and gives you a pretty clear answer on whether you've got combustion gases getting into your coolant. You just fill it up with the solution, hold it over the radiator opening, pump the bulb for about a minute, and watch the color change. Blue means you're good and yellow or green means bad news ahead. Saved me from having to blindly guess or pay a shop just to tell me what was wrong. Good tool to have on hand if you ever do your own engine diagnostics.

Good Quality and it Works as it should.
This worked exactly as it should out o the box. I followed the instructions as stated and had no problems getting this to seal on the top of my coolant reservoir. The color never changed after trying it two-three times and revving the engine while checking. Then just for grins and giggles because I read a lot of reviews that stated the color never changed, I went to the rear of my car and held it up to the exhaust sucked it into the tube and the color immediately changed to green/yellow, so I knew it was working as advertised. I do recommend this product. The quality of the tube is good and works as it should.

takes some time to change colour (test it on exhaust gas)
cool idea. helps diagnose leaky head gasket. easy to use but the colour change isnt as big as i expected. test it on car exhaust gas if the head tests good to be sure fluid changes

Excellent test kit with fast results
You definitely need to reduce the coolant in your radiator or tank as it will suck up fluid once the car is started and the cooling system starts to flow if it is at normal to high levels. Test is very simple to run and gives very quick results.
