Amazing Alternative To Spray Tanning!
I've been an avid spray tanner for awhile at the salon but decided to give at-home self tanners a try to cut down on some of the cost. I tried a few with varying results but really hit the jackpot with Tanceuticals! First of all, I absolutely love the fresh coconut smell. It's the best smelling self tanner I've ever had. As it develops, the coconut smell does eventually go away, but that nasty DHA scent you get with other tanners wasn't there. I find applying this one really easy. It doesn't have any guide color, but I like that since guide colors are just fd&c coloring. It's such a thin lotion that it's really simple to get a thin, even coat. And because it doesn’t contain all that heavy guide coloring, tanceuticals dries REALLY fast. I mean, it completely dries within about 5-10 minutes. And once it dries, I can barely tell it's there. Plus it's not sticky, which is a very big thing to me. I've tried so many self tanners that are sticky. I used this at night (so it was on about 8 hours). When I woke up in the morning, the color was very noticeable and amazing. It wasn't overpowering, just a natural, bronzey-tan color. Perfect for me. It lasted about 5-6 days before it started to fade. This happens with spray tanning too so I knew exactly how to deal with it to get it to fade evenly. I just exfoliate a little more stringently towards the end of the 5-6 days. Then I have a "blank" canvas for the next application I put on! Tanceuticals cost a little more than cheap, drugstore-type self tanners but I think it's worth it. Since I'm putting this all over my skin, I like that it has botanicals and cosmeceuticals. So overall I love this brand. They make great products and have amazing customer service :)

Best self-tanning product on the market!
I love Tanceutical. Best self-tanning product on the market. I was wearing a strapless gown to my daughter's wedding and I wanted a very natural tan. I tested Tanceutical a few times before the wedding - for about six weeks. It was very easy to use. I would put it on before I went to bed and wake up with a beautiful, natural, rich tan. The tan lasted for four-six days. I could even go an entire week without re-applying (it just looked like I was losing a natural tan.) My friends thought I went to the Caribbean for a quick get away before the wedding. I received so many compliments. Definitely buy the mitt and the self-tanning back wand for easy application. (This way, I didn't have to ask for help to put on the product.) Be careful around the bottom of your feet, around your toes and on your hands and fingers. It took me a few tries to get the tan to look natural around those areas as I wasn't careful when I was applying. I eventually learnt to use a washcloth and clean those areas to be sure I didn't leave any residue. I think I might even continue to use Tanceuticals throughout the summer and not have to worry about getting wrinkled in the sun! Far from the Worst, Yet not the Holy Grail Either
I've been on the hunt for the HG of self tanners. This one gets some rave reviews. I found some of what's been said to be accurate and other info not so much. The product is a thin lotion. It seems to spread easily. I use a mitt. It soaks in pretty well. You don't need a whole bunch to get the job done. It moisturizes my skin vs. drying it out - a very nice product characteristic. There is no guide with this product, yet you can see where it's been placed as it remains "wet" and shiny for a bit. The smell is okay...not as phenomenal as others proclaim. It has a faint coconut scent, but I can smell the self tanner underneath. The color is one of the best aspects of the product. It's rich, golden and natural looking. Do be careful to blend well at feet and wrists/hands as it tends to lay up thick on these body parts otherwise. The product fades very splotchy, which I don't like at all. You either have to reapply, or try to exfoliate off, which is sort of futile. Instead you wind up living with a spotted effect for a bit. This product only lasts me two or three days before I need to reapply, which is about average in my opinion. The tube seems like it won't last me very long...at this price point I wish it was larger....we'll see. All in all, this is better than most, but not as good as some I've used. That said, I would buy it again if I found it on sale, yet maybe not at it's full price. I think there are others out there at lower price points that are just as good or even better.

I Love Tanceuticals
A few years ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer and my dermatologist STRONGLY recommended that I stay out of the sun. As self tanners became the only way I could get a safe tan, I've tried dozens of them over these last few years. Some of them were ok, but I never really found one I absolutely loved. That is, until I tried tanceuticals! I found out about it after reading all the amazing reviews online and seeing a bunch of different celebrities on social media using it. Here's my thoughts on why I like it. First off, it's very easy to use compared to other self tanners I've tried. It's a very thin lotion, which makes it really easy to blend in. Once it's applied, I also like how quickly it dries. And it's not sticky at all which is a HUGE plus. I can't stand when a self tanner sticks to everything touch. It doesn't have any guide color, so you have to be careful when applying. Personally, I don't like those tanners with guide color as they make me look way too dark as the tan develops (and they come off on my bedsheets). The other big thing I like about it is the smell. This one has a really great coconut smell. I can't say enough about it (especially if you've used those self tanners that have that string "DHA" smell)! Once it develops overnight, the color on me is really natural and gorgeous. It's not overwhelming, just a nice, bronze glow. Tanceuticals lasts about 6 days on me before it begins to fade (at which time I just use it again). I moisturize every day so I think that helps. Very happy (repeat) customer right here :)

Good product but still misses the mark
It is true that this tanner smells like coconut out of the tube; HOWEVER, that smell soon fades into the usual tanner smell that we all dislike and tells everyone around you that you have used a self-tanning product. I had hoped that would not be the case. It leaves a nice color on the skin, and when applied with tanning mitten, it is more uniform than other products I have tried. Other issues unfavorable to me are: 1) price, 2) it came off all over my white sheets--even hours after application and without my adding anything else to it like body lotion, 3) it makes you feel warmer (I live in Phoenix) than if you hadn't applied it, as it apparently gets into the pores (which maybe this is something that has to happen), so it leaves you with a feeling like maybe a little claustrophobic (but other tanners I have tried did the same). As for the sheet and light clothing discoloration, it does wash out if the fabric is washable, but it would be nice if a product could be made that does not rub off like that. If it rubs off on white sheets, then it will rub off on any light colored upholstery or clothing, which means you have to be very vigilant. You cannot wash all upholstery and what if you leave stains on a couch or chair at someone else's home. Not good. Bottom line: I like it better than other products I have used, no doubt, but still a lot to be desired.

Best self tanner
Stays really good and has a nice natural color I like that it doesn't leave a sticky residue or weird smell

Very uneven color
I am so disappointed by this self tanner. I used a mitt to apply the lotion. I felt that it went on easily. The scent is better than most as I didn't smell normal self tanner that I think smells like body odor! I applied it after showering, exfoliating and I applied a light layer of lotion on my knees, elbows and feet. I then put on loose fitting clothes and slept it in overnight. The next morning I showered (no soap on self tanned areas). The color was so splotchy and uneven. It was very dark in some areas and hardly any color in other areas. I have to say this is one of the worst self tanners I have used. Without a color guard it seems almost impossible to get even coverage. I decided to give it another try. I took my time applying the lotion with the mitt and was certain I had covered all areas. I waited almost 30 minutes before putting on loose fitting clothing. The results the next day were the same. So uneven and so many spots with little color while other spots very dark. I have used Tanologist without a color guard and it is far superior to this. I will not be using this again.

Pretty good, but not perfect
I did a fair amount of research before buying Tanceuticals. My usual self tanner has a super-dark guide in it, and frankly, is quite a production to apply as it gets everywhere. My usual tanner also doesn't have amazing longevity - maybe 3-4 days, tops. This product was appealing because of no color transfer to clothing or sheets, and I liked the idea of a lotion formula. My order arrived quickly, as promised. The day of application, I shaved in the morning and applied my usual moisturizer. Then, before bedtime that evening, I showered again and exfoliated with a mitt and a Castile soap with no emollients to leave behind. Using a mitt, I applied Tanceuticals starting with my lower body, working my way upward. I let it dry for about 20 minutes before I slid into bed. The smell: This smells like true coconut - not tropical, fruity fake coconut. More like a freshly cracked coconut than a coconut scented candle. Its not bad, but not amazing either. It is like coconut water, which sounds far better than it tastes. Not entirely terrible, but not delicious. After developing overnight, however, the DHA smell was pretty potent. It did rinse away after showering. The consistency/spread: This lotion is very thin - closer in consistency to salad dressing. It does seem like a little goes a long way. I blended like crazy because of no guide, trying to be extra careful not to miss spots. I did like the moisturizing feel of this tanner compared to a mousse or spray tan, which always feels super dry and leaves me looking dirty. Tanceuticals was clear and not too shiny or matte. The color: The color that developed after one application was okay, but a bit more golden than I would prefer. In spite of my best efforts, I apparently missed a few spots and allowed a little pooling around my ankles. My color wasn't dark - I'm VERY fair and never go out in the sun, even at the peak of summer. It looked natural, but nobody would think that I was "tan" per se after one application. Tanceuticals emailed me to find out if I liked the product, and I was honest that I wasn't overwhelmed. They suggested I try moisturizing BEFORE applying Tanceuticals. So, three days later, I decided to try again. My first application was definitely still visible and not blotchy at all, but I figured a little more color would be okay. I shaved the day prior. I exfoliated in the morning, applied my regular lotion, then immediately applied Tanceuticals, this time using my hands instead of a mitt. I have to say, that made a positive difference. I think that the regular moisturizer maybe somehow helped me see where I'd applied the Tanceuticals. After applying, I washed my hands very, very well - twice (using the Castile soap again) and made sure to scrub my nails with a brush so they wouldn't discolor. I wore it to work as it developed, and the smell was fine throughout the day. My skin felt hydrated and comfortable. By evening, it was starting to get DHA-y, but not awful. My final color was still more golden than bronze, but definitely not orange. It was much more even than with the mitt. Overall, Tanceuticals customer service is to be commended, and I think the product is pretty good. For the price, it does a decent job. Is it the holy grail of tanners? Not for me. BUT, alternating days with my regular favorite mousse tanner (which is half the price) and Tanceuticals over 2-3 days gives me a great "you're tan!" color with a nice bronze tone. It lasts about 5 days with no blotchiness. Tanceuticals definitely seems to help the self tan last. Self tanning is always a chore, and never without its share of hassles. Even the $65 a session spray tans have their share of inconveniences. This is a nice option.
