The cool story of volcanoes will intrigue kids and adults alike. Hot melted rock from the middle of our planet forces its way up through cracks in the Earth’s crusts, exploding violently and sometimes unexpectedly in volcanic fury that can terrorize populations for months, even years. Anne Schreiber’s narrative gives readers a little of the science, a little of the history, and a lot of the action. National Geographic photography fires the imagination on dramatic spreads alive with vivid images of lava, ash, molten rock, weird rocks, and steaming seawater. Review: Excellent reader for kids - Easy reading for children. Very good and informative. Keeps their interest. Review: Great book on volcanoes - Great little book on volcanoes. Shorter than I would have liked but my 7 year old loves it.

Love this
My first graders LOVE Nat Geo books. They were so excited to see this on my shelf. Although they can’t read it all, I think they can read enough and the pics are great.

Perfect for science lesson
I used this book in conjunction with a volcano experiment. I did the classic baking soda and vinegar volcano. This book had a lot of interesting facts and I felt like my seven year old was able to retain at least a few of those facts. Currently with online learning I’ve been looking for a way to better engage my child in productive learning activities. I felt like this book was short enough and easy enough for him to read (second grade reading level) while also being factual enough for even the average adult to learn something from.

Great Line of Books
I got this as part of my son's 4th birthday gift, which will also include an Uncle Milton's ice and fire volcano and a volcano movie, since he's obsessed with volcanos. The pictures are wonderful but it will also be interesting to read since it has so many great facts. We already have the weirdest sea creatures book and this one seems to be just as wonderful. Plan to buy more of this wonderful line of books.

Books on selling platforms should list their contents pages.
I bought this book without knowing the level of the contents. It turns out that it is too elementary for the nine -year- girl for whom I bought it. she has a great interest in volcanoes and has been Googling in depth on the subject a lot. So she knows a lot more than the information given in this level 2 book. She thinks I should have bought her a serious adult book on volcanoes . She likes the graphics though. However, this was the only National Geographic book on volcanoes that I spotted on the Amazon platform.
