I like this varnish A LOT
I previously bought some varnish from the local store, and it dried so quickly and my brush left streaks. I was really bummed. I then decided to give this one a try - It looks great! I tried both the Matte and the High Glosee from Liquitex Professional and they both turned out wonderfully. I did exactly as the instructions said - Swirl it gently, apply from side to side with a soft brush, did not dilute with water. I feel like 1 layer is enough for me. I especially like the Matte one - the colors are vibrant and there's no glare from the light.

Not quite what we were looking for but...
So we purchased this to go along with Musou black paint that our son asked for as a Christmas gift. This Musou paint is advertised as the blackest black that you can buy. But we had read that it scratched/damaged easily by itself so we thought a matte topcoat would help protect it. First of all, which our son was concerned about, I think it did change the look of the dark paint a bit. Second, it didn't provide as much prevention from scratching as we wanted. My son used it in painting his phone case, which does get a lot of wear. So, depending on what you want this for it might work better for you, it just wasn't right for our kind of "exacting" project. It does not have a strong smell which is nice and dries fairly quickly.

Needed varnish for repainted items and it delivered a great finish at good price
Ive recently picked up the hobby of repainting figures/props and a varnish is definitely needed to elevate some to the last step, especially if its for something touched a lot so the paint is protected. The first thing I used it on was to seal repaint of this toy flintlock and after 3-4? (bottle says use 2-3) coats you can see how it looks. When on display there's noticeable shine so the metallic painted parts look metal and the "wood" looks a bit polished like how real life ones are. However the finish isn't unnaturally shiny since this wasn't the high gloss variant so it doesn't look cartoony. I bought 4oz for $5 and that is a great price since even with extra coats I used it didn't drain the bottle much. I highly recommend picking this up especially if your environment isn't suitable for spray varnishing. The one "downside" is that since this is a water soluble/based varnish it won't be AS protective as an enamel lacquer varnish so if you need extra protection or something you'll be heavily touching and roughing up then dont use this since it'll wear out quicker. But for figures/props/minis and display the price to quality and ease of use is very hard to beat

MUST BE VERY CAREFUL USING THIS STUFF!
be very careful using this! very very thin layer or it will look cloudy and ruin your painting! It dries very fast so you can only do small areas at a time. takes for what seems forever to do a large painting. But has a great finish total matte so that when you cover an acrylic painting the amount of sun or light that hits it won't affect the way the paint looks no matter where you put it! I will only use this from now on

Great stuff. Liquitex makes the best mediums and varnishes.

Bon vernis. Ne pas en mettre une couche trop épaisse, cela laisse une epaisseur blanche .

i love the liquitex brand, this is a great water based varnish (which means soap will clean it up). it definitely requires some practice and a large, decent, smooth brush for even coating. i have a 1 inch brush and even for an 8x10 it feels way too small. if you are looking to keep the vibrancy of your painting i would suggest satin or gloss (i prefer satin, as it's 'glossy' but doesn't reflect much light to give off a glare)

I bought a matte varnish with a full understanding of the nuances of its use. Matte component from such varnih could set the picture to look whitish. Due to the presence of a matte component, matte varnishes are usually recommended to be shaken before use. I have used many other matte water-based varnishes and this one is by far the best. For example, Rosa's varnish had to be diluted at least three times with water so that it would not leave whitish streaks on any dark picture. But Liquitex varnish, according to the manufacturer, cannot be diluted, so I used it as is. There is a nuance in use - you can’t apply a very thin layer, as I did with diluted varnish, otherwise it reaches for the brush, and it turns out sloppy. But a sufficiently "wet" layer lays down perfectly fine, including on the black areas of the picture. Yes, until the varnish is completely dry, whitish areas are present, but after drying they really disappear. In one of the pictures, I got a small drip on the end, which I did not immediately notice. It was whitish an hour after application. But the next day it became completely transparent. So the main thing when applying matte varnish is to apply a sufficient amount of varnish, and not be afraid of traces from a wet brush. If, nevertheless, it didn’t work out and such “dry” stains remained, then they can be immediately removed with a damp cloth and then try to apply the varnish again. The varnish is really beautiful, completely matte, with a velvety texture. Doesn't even whiten the black areas of the picture. Emphasizes colors, which is just a miracle for a matte varnish. After the first purchase, I ordered another large bottle.

A large part of it was a solid block inside the liquid. Even after long mixing, hard particles remained in it. Still applied it on a canvas, but it is impossible to apply it uniformly. It ruined the painting.
