### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A way to help an adolescent put their feelings into words.

Excellent book. As a psychotherapist who works with tweens and teens I recommend this. Adolescents want to be heard, not necessarily 'treated' and this book names so much that could be going on inside of someone. It's not preachy nor does it offer any big fix. It can offer some hope but what I'm really finding is it offers an opportunity for my clients to expand on their emotions...which leads to exploration and some self discovery. If read by child and parent, it could open up a way to learn how your child is feeling and generate some conversations on that topic. If you're looking for an answer or quick fix this might not meet your needs. It might open up the door for a youth to realize that they're hurting and would like some professional help.

I have bought a lot, and I mean a lot, of self-help type books for my 12yr old son over the last year. He has been having a lot of emotional and behavioral problems. I have seen this book laying open in his room for few days now. I'm giving it a four star review because I'm not sure if it is actually helping, but he's been reading it and he rarely reads any of the books I get from him. The book has caught his interest enough for him to be looking through it and that itself means a ton to me. It's the little things in life now and the message in the book will be beneficial if he can try to apply it to his life.
