It comes with two needles. one #8s and one #8c. The #8c has a curved tip.

How strong are the seams? Wondered if this could be used to sew a loop on a tow strap?

I would say say that would depend on the thread you use. Research what's a good thread to use On that. It won't be this tool that makes you a strong seam it will be the thread.

Can it repair a seam in a leather car seat?

yes , you must remove the seat cover.stitch the seam then reinstall the cover

Can this make its own hole, or does the item being stitched have to have holes first?
