Review: These exceeded my expectations - MAKE SURE to buy these from G Dreamer when selecting who is shipping the discs to you - I was expecting to receive generic "Magic 3" discs due to the picture that desertcart has placed on the description page, but G Dreamer actually shipped the official NTSC-U Swap Magic 3.8 Coder discs to me. My 80GB MGS4 PS3 is able to boot G Dreamer's official SM 3.8 Coder discs flawlessly - there seemed to be no strain on the PS3's lens nor any trouble booting apps. When you look at the bottom of either the CD or DVD, you will notice that the disc was printed with the "silver lines" that unlicensed PS2 discs require to boot properly (i.e. if you have a console that has issues booting PS2 BlueCD games/apps, this type of CD ~should not~ give you any trouble at all). This works great for booting PS2 homebrew on the PS3 since it does not conflict with Sony's PSNetwork updates (just make sure your PS3 boots PS2 discs and the USB drive you are using has not been blocked by Sony). My Open PS2 Loader v0.8 app loaded just fine and allowed me to access my PS2 discs over SMB Network mode - PS3 compatibility with OPL isn't perfect right now (lagging/skipping movies), but an unmodded PS2 console runs even .hack//Fragment's original disc perfectly with the translation patch applied (via SMB). An unmodded PS2 console hooked into an HDTV using the PS3's Component video cables will be able to use the GS Mode Selector v0.36 app to boot Open PS2 Loader & even official Sony PS2 game discs in 720p/1080i video mode (I like 1080i mode more myself) with 90-95% compatibility. Grandia III's opening movie now looks like a PS3-quality movie, and Yakuza 1 & 2 no longer suffer from the horrifying anti-aliasing filter that the PS3 automatically applies when playing on my 80GB MGS4 system's PS2 mode. If you love PS2 games and have an HDTV, you WILL NOT be disappointed with how most games look, as the image clarity and colors are internally boosted before the video signal exits the system (i.e. no half-hearted upscaling is going on). With it getting harder and harder to find proper Swap Magic discs online, this is a great & safe place to buy them. If your PS2 is on its last leg or you want to run SNES games on your PS2 without getting your console banned from the PSN, these discs are must-have. So long as you do your homework to make sure your console is compatible, the possibilities that Swap Magic enables can potentially make your PS2 one of your best-looking HD consoles. Review: Great Product - This product works great. I use to have a PS2 many years back (the fat one), but I got rid of it for whatever reason. Then I found out about Swap Magic. I wanted to stop using the emulator on my PC and I wanted regular speed. The only thing I miss the most is the save states. Then without knowing it bought the last version of the PS2 that needs only 2 sensors covered. The one in the front is easy, but for the one in the back, here is what to do. Well, at first I thought I was crazy for already breaking my brand new system, but it's worth it. You want to snap off two pieces, the plastic piece that goes into the hole when you close it and the piece that springs back as you close it. Hope that's easy to understand. Anyways, that way when you cover the sensor with tape, the plastic piece won't be in the way and you won't have to tape the other piece back. It's even less of having to change. The lid will likely not close, so you just have to set something on it like perhaps the Swap Magic disc in it's sleeve until you are done. Anyways, read my instructions while you have the system in front of you and you should be good. Have fun. Buy Swap Magic!

Works Perfectly
I ordered this product a year ago this very month and I am still using it and have never had any problems with it whatsoever. I am using a Playstation fat version, and also used it on my friends slim model. You do need to find the step to use this product successfully cause it is different between models (slim and fat). my Fat Model I use a thing called a Slide card which is very simple and easy to use, I made my own slide card :) but with a slim is a little different. But just wanted to say that even after a year still working prefect and is very wonderful tool to play all my back-ups so I dont scratch the original disks with wear and tear, and also I ordered some import games like Final Fantasy X International and got a fan translated import of Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System and all games working wonderfully. Am very pleased and I would recommend this to anyone that asks :)

works fine for me. worth the price in my instance.
I haven't used the cd at all but I use the dvd and I have no problems wit it. it works fine for me. found it a little cheaper or a website but was a little suspect because I figured amazon is a heck of a lot more reputabul than some site ive never seen before. it was around a 5 or 8 dollar difference but I figured weighing if it would be fake or my card numbers getting jacked ide just pay a few exter bucks and feel more safe in my purchase. like I said I got both dvd and cd oh and they where both version 3.8 so cheat codes are on the dvd I know. no clue on how or if you can add more thoe but their are some on their. ive never used any of them yet thoe so I can't confirm if the truly work or not. if you looking for a alternative to free mcboot or just a extra add on like my self or if you want to play your old backups again but with cheats and not having to hot swap this is a good answer for you. I feel I got my money's worth. my ps2 is a model number SCPH-77001 it is a slim and it doesn't play blue bottomed discs or black bottom discs and it is soft modded. the swap magic discs are silver bottomed unlike the gameshark discs. so if your ps2 is like mine is keep in mind of what the disc bottoms are like before you buy a boot device.

Didn't even work
Got it in the mail and tried it and tried it for over 4 hours and could never get it to work. One of the discs couldn't even be read.

Play import PS2 and install other apps
This is the very best solution to play import dvd and cd PS2 games without wires, solder, mod chips and potential damage. If you have a fat ps2, you need to make (or buy) a slim jim type device to open the disk tray without pushing the eject button. On the slim ps2, the only thing you need to do is block the two or three door sensor switches (depending on which slim model you own). There is a stickytape kit that you can buy to do this if you so desire, but if you have a half hour, some patience, a phillips screwdriver and some tape it's a DIY no brainer. The swapmagic website has the instructions you need. The website would also like to sell you a flip top door for the slim model as an alternative solution to the stickytape, but I see no benefit in it. Also, make sure you read all you can on Wiki and other mod sites to get the full benefits of the swap magic disks. You can even burn back-up copies of games to blank disk or install and run them off a hard drive or memory stick!

Huge hassle but, worth it...
Swap Magic 3.8 is a win, lose situation. The seller G Dreamer, is confusing in many ways. for one, i ordered standard shipping (3-5 business days) and received an email on the same day i placed the order stating that it left the seller facility and has been sent out to ship, so thats when the clock starts ticking... the estimated delivery date was then changed from the 5th business day to the seventh day... not sure what that was about, eventually it arrived within a total of 11 days. the product was unusable without modding my ps2. it lacked the keys to block your sensors so that was a hassle. after 11 days and modding my ps2 i was able to use it properly. point being, why advertise falsely and drive people crazy with misinformation?

Simply Awesome!
The one bit of advice I'd give to anyone before buying this is go to Youtube and watch some of the videos on modding your PS2 (to play import games) before you buy this. You don't just put the disc in. You first have to mod your PS2. I have a PS2 slim and after watching the videos it took me maybe 2 minutes to mod my PS2. The modding process involves unscrewing and removing the top of your PS2 and then covering 3 little prongs with tape (or anything that will hold them in the down position). I've never modded any game console but I found it to be extremely easy to do with little risk of damaging the PS2. I had my doubts about if this disc would actually work. It works! It works as well as everyone else is saying it does. I'm finally able to play a Japanese game I've wanted since 2004. By the way ...the American memory card will save Japanese game data.
