A great affordable choice
Really good quality and elicits reflexes very easily. An excellent quality for its value. Love the bristles for fine touch.

Great! Would highly recommend (especially for the price)!
I'm a 3rd year medical student on my Neurology rotation and wanted a reflex hammer like this after I saw that my friend had one. His cost about $20 though (the other popular one here no Amazon) and I'm glad I got this one for cheaper! The head has a good weight and it easily elicits reflexes (tested on myself). The other end is pointed and can be screwed off to reveal a brush inside for light touch sensation. I would definitely recommend this! I just got it so I haven't used it on patients yet but I can't imagine it breaking down for any reason. Will update if it does.

Well, I suck at finding people’s reflexes but it is a very good quality hammer and great for the price.

Reliable
This reflex hammer has been with me through 6 years of medical training. It does the job and is comfortable to use. Only complaint is that the metal screw comes loose after a while, but it doesn’t affect its function.

Great reflex hammer for the price!
I love this reflex hammer. It is very sturdy and easy to use and has sufficient weight to it to elicit difficult reflexes on patients. Used it constantly during my neuro rotation and even my general practicioner attending is always requesting it to elicit Babinski responses.

Functional and inexpensive.
I use reflex hammers at work and occasionally buy cheap models to evaluate whether they would be usable for our students. This is a fully functional Tromner model hammer with a flexible plastic shaft. It seems nearly identical to those sold under other names at similar prices, but it does feel lighter than the more expensive MDF model also sold on Amazon. The pointy tip is removable; many would avoid using it regardless as it is not disposable and may be difficult to sanitize between patients (most physicians would recommend a q-tip and a safety pin instead). Although relatively light, the flexible plastic shaft allows one to deliver higher force when eliciting reflexes than the (more expensive) models with a stiff metal handle. The rubber head is reasonably soft. Overall, I have no complaints. If you are looking for an upgrade from the largely unusable Taylor style reflex hammers provided in diagnostic kits, this is a good choice. Best of all, if you misplace it after a long call night, it's cheap enough to replace.

Great deal!
It's a $16 Tromner reflex hammer. It does what it's supposed to do. The plastic handle feels a bit cheap, but it's a good design - the lightweight handle with just a little bit of flexibility, combined with the heavy head, make eliciting reflexes a breeze for a non-neurologist like me. Nothing smells funny or leaves rubber residue on a white coat pocket, like ultra-cheap models sometimes do. Everything screws apart and appears replaceable. If you're looking for something inexpensive that won't be embarrassing to wield on a neuro rotation or even to use regularly in your non-neurology practice, this is a great option. For the price, it easily earns 5 stars.
