Helpful with cholesterol
My doctor suggested I take these to help with my high cholesterol. It has helped lower it, but with anything we take for our health, we are usually also doing other things to help with our health. So, I dont know if it is a placebo effect or if it is actually helping.

Lipid profile not as hoped.
I did not have any side effects that I could associate with taking the supplement serving size once a day. Unfortunately the numbers were not as hoped after 3 months of 1200 mg a day, occasionally 2400 mg. I've always had high triglycerides, lower HDL and higher LDL than the recommended amounts. I had been taking krill oil and pantethine and while I was never in goal range on blood work, it did seem to be lower taking it versus not. I recently had a calcium score of zero. So under the advisement of my primary, it was suggested to try red yeast rice. Several of the nurses had said they or their husband's had lowered their numbers significantly using red yeast rice but never remembered a brand for me to be able to look up. They weren't even aware of the dangers of citrinin. So I cut out all other supplements and My weight stayed about the same Maybe a pound and a half heavier. I didn't make any other significant changes except for walking 30 minutes a day for the month of January with some intense hills. These facts are necessary to know when you're comparing whether something works or not, and it's best not to throw everything at the wall before reviewing if something works or not. If you ended up losing 5- 20 lb at the same time As trying a new supplement, you would not be able to determine how much the supplement contributed versus the weight loss. Between the last two tests the differences were either minor improvement or worse. So here are the results for 3 months using Zazzees: HDL went from 41 to 36 , (Goal>39) 12.2% in the wrong direction. Triglycerides were disappointing- UP- 280 to 312 (Goal <149) 11.43% increase LDL- surprisingly, I actually went down a little bit.139 down to 126. (Goal<99) That is a 9.35% improvement . Yes, technically my overall cholesterol went down but again, that does seem to all be based on lower LDL and it doesn't seem to matter that my hdl went down and triglycerides went up. 231 to 217 (goal <200) that's a 6% reduction But I think most doctors don't look at total cholesterol anymore. total cholesterol seems to be heavily weighted based on the LDL reduction. I don't know if the LDL reduction of 9.35% has any significance, especially because the triglycerides went up almost 11.5% and my HDL went down. 12% I would have scored this lower if there were no change in LDL. One thing you should also know is that my diet improved the last month of the 3-month trial as the holidays were passed. There is some debate nowadays. How much the cholesterol from food affects the cholesterol in the blood. It's what's being produced by the liver that seems to be more of a factor, not the food we eat. Studies were saying that this supplement reduces triglycerides. But in my case it went up so I really can't know for sure if there is A significant amount of monacolin k. But the results just weren't what I was hoping for To determine if red yeast rice in general is effective. Because there's no standardization it's hard to know If what's on the label is in this bottle.
