KCB - Crown Cake Rusk, 25 Ounce

Rusk, as you may know, is thrice-baked bread. Once to have it rise, once to toast the crust, and once after it has been sliced to crisp it the rest of the way through. This is like thrice-baked cake. It is very light and crispy, and has the flavor that you ordinarily get from the browned part of the cake that was in contact with the pan - an additionally has a mildly sweet flavor with notes of vanilla. You could compare it a bit to biscotti in profile and use, but it is far less dense than that. I find it delightful, and more importantly novel, I don't think I've tried something quite like this before. It dips well in tea or coffee, though it soaks much more quickly than biscotti does, I prefer it on its own. One or two slices constitutes a snack. It isn't too rich, being less sweet than most true cake, which means it makes for a nice afternoon treat. It was well received in the household, to the degree that nearly half the box was gone in a day and it had to be relocated to a less tempting location. I like it myself and intend to try more cake rusk in the future. I would definitely recommend it.

CROWN CAKE RUSK.....Good taste, but breaks and crumbles really bad. It gets all over your clothes and where you are seated at the time you are eating it. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

I had been searching for the Zwieback toast of my childhood and none can be found. I was hesitant to give these a try, but am glad that I did. The price is much higher than the old Nabisco Zwiebacks were. However, this product comes packaged in an attractive, "presentation-style" box. Each toast is substantially larger than the 1970s-era Zwiebacks. They are very tasty! I do highly recommend them! The taste might be "slightly" different than the Nabisco ones, but it's very close. These are crispy and flavorful -- slightly sweet, but not overly so -- and become soft in your mouth. Excellent for teething babies....or for an adult with all her teeth who just happens to love the taste. Responding to other reviews I saw: Yes, a couple of the toasts were broken in half during shipment, but that in no way detracted from my enjoyment of the product. I will buy this again as a special treat for myself.

The product was nice but the biscuits were broken up and in some cases shattered making them not suited (dipping in tea) for its intended purpose and I had to throw them out. Feels like a wasted investment.

Received the rusks today. Every single rusk in the box was broken. They were not presentable for guests. But they taste great.

Absolutely the best tea cake/cookies you can buy. Inexpensive yet very tasty. Strong enough to mostly stay intact when dunked in tea, but don't let it soak through!
