What is the difference between the collector's edition and the standard game?

It’s a metal tin box instead of cardboard

Is this too young for 8 year olds?

My 8 year old will happily play it with me but if they aren’t a fan of the ride they would probably think it wasn’t cool enough.

Are the illustrations the original by Mary Blair, or are they modernized?

They are by Andrew Kolb (Kolbisneat) on Instagram. He definitely has a vintage style.
