This stuff is absolutely amazing! For years I was buying my drugstore brand simethicone at $9 for 60 gel caps. They really didn't work all that well. Every single night, no matter what I would eat during the day, I would be in agony with gas pain. It was so bad it was almost debilitating for me. I was just so tired of being sick every single night. The drugstore stopped carrying their own brand in the gel cap form, so I thought I'd try Amazon to see what they had to offer. I saw the Rugby brand and the low price and decided to try it. I started taking 2 gel caps after breakfast and I'm good to go for the rest of the day! No more agonizing gas pains. Now I'm able to eat more fiber. I was avoiding it because of the pain. Not only has it eliminated my daily sickness, but it's also helped me to begin eating healthfully again! I feel like a new person. I'm a happy girl!!! :-)6/14 Update: Having had pretty severe IBS for years along with diverticulitis, I wasn't able to eat much fiber. I'm overweight and really needed to start eating more healthily, but couldn't. Since finding these wonderful gel caps, I'm now eating tons of fiber all day long and have even gotten a Nutribullet for green smoothies. I just take 2 gel caps after my first meal & another 1 or 2 later if needed. I'm proud to say that I've been able to lose 6 pounds my first week! I always loved fruits & veg, but had to avoid it. Now my refrigerator is overflowing with them. Now I'm an even happier girl!!! :-)

We buy these on a regular basis (along with digestive enzymes and probiotics) because our diet includes a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices along with various kinds of lean meat and fish. For those debating on whether to buy THESE, or 'somewhat' comparable products available, first check the simple "inactive" ingredients list on these compared to some of the others--others which have unnecessary additives like sorbitol, mannitol (sweeteners) or soy in them, which in and of themselves can CAUSE gas, bloating, indigestion and gastric distress--furthering your need for MORE product, not less. These have fewer "inactive" ingredients such as that, which are as follows (taken from the peel-back underside of the label) "edible ink, FD&C yellow #6, gelatin, glycerin, purified water." That, plus the 180 mg simethicone per softgel. The "edible ink" is a tiny, pale white identifier on the outside of the softgel (need a magnifying glass to see it) that identifies the product. It says,S180 (meaning, simeticone 180mg).So we continue to buy and use THIS product rather than other 'comparable' brands--generic or otherwise--that contain a ridiculous list of additional, unnecessary additives that can cause digestive upset and gastric distress for many, if not most, people.

I am a nurse practitioner. I work in urgent care but used to work in gastroenterology (GI) and we "prescribed" Simethicone at this dose all the time for IBS. Gas-X has the same active ingredient but at a lower dose and a high cost. I've never actually seen 180mg Simethicone on the shelves at the pharmacy but its one of those mysterious "behind the counter over the counter" medications. What seriously is up with that? No prescription required, available but only kept behind the counter - seriously what is UP with that? Anyway, if I prescribed it most insurances would cover it. One day I thought of searching Amazon and voila its here so so cheap! Now I just keep this in the cupboard at home for occasional family use and its a winner.This product works great for intestinal cramping due to gas. Gas expands the intestine/colon causing pain and is often associated with IBS but can also be a normal variant for most folks from time to time. Simethicone "dissolves" gas in the GI tract, works only in the gut and is not absorbed by the body. If you suffer from cramping/gas this WILL help but don't expect miracles. There are no frequent side effects but rarely I've had patients say it can be constipating.

GREAT PRICE, but I seem to have to take two or three at a time to really keep my gas under control. Still, it's nice having something like this out there!

Good product, works every time. Just wish companies didn’t bother with added dyes to product. I could care less about a color even though it’s a minuscule amount. Either way I still recommend this product.

I was previously taking Gas X or the generic equivalent (which contains peppermint oil) and I would always wind up with horrible heartburn after taking Gas X and I couldn't figure out why.But after a little investigation, I discovered that peppermint oil can cause stomach discomfort in some people and obviously that included me as well.As much as I hate being bloated with painful gas; having heartburn is worse; so I had to find a new medicine for gas relief.Rugby 's Simethicone is the generic version of Ultra Strength Phazyme and it does not contain peppermint oil.If you peel back the label on the bottle it lists the Directions:Swallow one to two softgels as needed after a meal.Do not exceed 2 softgels per day except under advice and supervision of a physician.Inactive Ingredients:edible ink, FD&C yellow #6, gelatin, glycerin, purified waterThe softgels are a reddish orange color and they contain more Simethicone per dose than Gas X since even extra strength Gas X is 125 mg per pill and these are 180 mg per pill.Glad to have found this affordable alternative to Phazyme and so glad that I can treat my gas without causing heartburn.
