GRS 6PR-8 6-1/2" polypropylene cone woofers with butyl rubber surrounds are great replacement speakers, but also provide excellent performance in new projects.

I find that this replacement model is superior to the original Klipsch subwoofer that came with the 3-way system. It is very resonant, and handles all the sub-bass notes with ease. Review: Klipsch promedia 4.1 subwoofer replacements - I bought these to replace my Klipsch promedia 4.1 subwoofer drivers. The pre-existing woofers rotted on the surround. I could have re-foamed them but the removal of the plastic edging was too much of an undertaking for me. I was afraid I would damage the speaker beyond repair. So I looked around and read some reviews on some other 6.5" woofers. These speakers fit the specs and the price point. I had almost forgotten how amazing the Klipsch's sounded! I fell in love all over again! Very clean, tight, crisp bass response. Everything sounded good, from hip hop, to rock. From the digital bass line to the pluck of a bass guitar. And another aspect I really liked was the fact that I didn't have to abuse these speakers to get some sound out of them. These things should be outlawed.... The construction was very solid. The rubber surrounds guaranteed me I wouldn't have to worry about them rotting again ;-) The only negative I could say is that I wasn't able to put the grills back on due to the fact that the originals had a special oversized flange built into them that accommodated the grills. And the polarity wasn't marked.... Not a big deal. Use the battery trick. Overall for bang for the buck they are more than great in my application. They are well built and fantastic sounding. I would absolutely recommend these speakers!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the outer diameter of the outer most edge of this woofer? please be exact. I'm designing a box.**
A: I know some 6.5" speakers are not 6.5", but these are. Replaced the woofers in my Dayton B652's (which are  6.5" outside diameter) and they went right in.

**Q: Could I use this as a car subwoofer if I put it in a box?**
A: This will give you better bass than most car 6.5's, but it's a replacement woofer for bpokshelf speakers mainly, but home stereo component 6.5's definitely perform better than car ones, some are even 4ohm.

**Q: For those who purchased the speaker as a replacement sub for the Klipsch Promedia, how is the fit and does the amp power the sub as well as the OEM?**
A: They fit perfect except the grill covers do not "push" back into place. Also you have to change the leads on the wiring because the connectors on these speakers are smaller. Really easy to do and they sound great. And yes the amp powers the sub and the OEM.. Super cheap fix, highly recommend.

Just got this today and put it into my older Klipsch 2.1 THX computer speaker system. My OEM sub speaker finally blew apart after 12 years the other day. :( Anyway, I wanted to give my feedback while it is fresh in my mind. ~First, it doesn't come with any foam to mount the speaker on, nor does the original speaker mesh protector fit this one, as it's frame diameter is just a bit smaller. I put 1/4" think, 1/2" wide window sealer foam around the base of the speaker before mounting and it worked great to keep it from rattling. It does bolt up directly without any modifications to the speaker or box. The negative tab will need to be narrowed so the cable end will slide on. I just used some scissors and carefully trimmed the tab. It's very thin metal. Finally, it's not as good as the OEM Klipsch speaker. It doesn't have near the clarity on songs with heavy bass. It will 'garble' some with moderate volume in those situations. However, that said, for the price point, it will do the job for most people, but music aficionados will definitely want to look elsewhere. :) Then again, most of you wouldn't have this older Klipsch system if you're an aficionado, so there is that. :) I'd buy it again.
