When purchasing toys for my toddler I want to make sure they are safe and of high quality. This adorable whale fits the bill! The fabric is very soft and durable with quality embroidered eyes and shapes - so nothing to come off and become a choking hazard. The product had no off-gassing whatsoever as well (something I am always wary of!). There are 6 colorful buckles in a variety of styles (with a few duplicates!). The green and yellow buckles are the same style, as well as the blue and purple. So there are 4 different types of buckles on this toy for your child to learn to master! A couple of them are easier to open than others, and my nearly 2 year old can manage to open the circle style buckle on his own which is nice. The mouth of the whale opens up to reveal a large zipper compartment as well! Another added bonus of this toy (stuffing things in the whale is apparently super fun too!). Highly recommended! I'd be confident purchasing any Buckle Toys in the future too!

My son recently entered the 'buckle phase' where he cannot resist them. Our friends happened to have one of these in their playroom and I couldn't have discovered it at a better time! I love that it's a soft toy so it's less of a projectile in the car, which is where we keep it now. It's super well made and has shapes, colors, numbers, buckles of course, and even a zipper pouch to play with. This keeps him thoroughly entertained on car rides and I can't recommend them enough. They're worth the price because they're such good quality. About to buy a second one for my husband's car! Would be great on an airplane one day too

I got this for my 18 month old for a long car trip. Although he enjoyed playing with it, some of the buckles were a bit difficult for him and the whale ended up getting thrown a few times in frustration. That being said, his two year old cousin loved this and didn't find it too difficult (though he would get the straps twisted or woven around each other thus making it impossible to buckle which greatly annoyed him). Even the four year old cousin got in on the fun trying to figure out what can fit in its mouth (a fidget cube was the ultimate favorite though a small ninja turtle came close). The quality is fantastic. It's very soft, the colors are bright, and the stitching is durable enough to stand up to a four year old and two year old having a tug-of-war. The numbers, colors, and shapes were lost on the older kids; but my son enjoyed them. He's just starting to learn shapes and colors so it was fun for him to interact with me and point to the red heart with I asked for the blue diamond (cut the kid some slack, he's learning). All in all a pretty solid toy. The buckles and zipper may be a bit of an over-reach for 18 months, but the colors, size and squeeze-ability, and shapes all put it in the "church / road trip" bag

I got this to keep my toddler busy on her first longer road trip. It definitely held her attention and I like that it's soft so it's less of a projectile if we were to ever get into an accident.

UPDATE: 2/3/17. It's now a little over a month later and our daughter still loves this whale and is very proficient at buckling, however, the side of her index finger got caught as she was snapping one of the buckles and it was very painful for her. She has three little blood blisters as a result. She still is playing with it but wanted to throw this out there. Lowered our review by 1 star. Our 20-month old daughter loves this! Every morning, she wakes up, gets out of bed, and goes to get her "WHAAAAALE!!" She really likes the colors and the challenge of buckling and zipping. The quality is excellent. Highly recommended.

I bought this for my 15 month old Grandson who loves figuring out buckles, safety straps on car seats, high chairs, etc. He's still not strong enough, but loves trying!!! It keeps him occupied and snuggles with the whale!

I bought this for my daughter who was 15 months old at the time. Can't recommend it highly enough, she loves it! Three different types of buckles which are nice softer closer ones (no nipped fingers so far!). Really good size too, just right to cuddle or hold onto the tail. And also to clip onto the nappy bag and transport without being at all bulky. We take it everywhere! Nice bright colours and lots of aspects of learning with the buckles, numbers, shapes, colours and zip. Really earned its 5 star rating from me :)
