I was to secure a shower door, with one strip on the door and one on the door jamb. Will this tape stick to itself?

Using my experience I would have to answer no. I purchased because it stated it would be strong. I have very light undercounted lights and even with two strips it wasn’t strong enough to hold them.

So do you need a metal surface to stick it too. or say one piece sticks to another. one on the wall and one on the item...

In the description the have A/B sets available. It comes with two strips that will stick to each other.

Can it hold up a tapestry?

I believe it would have sufficient magnetic strength if it were run the width of the tapestry, but I have no idea how well it would adhere to the fabric of the tapestry.

Is this strong enough to keep a mailbox door from falling open? Also will the daily opening of the mailbox door eventually weaken the adhesive?

I don’t think so. I didn’t find it really strong
