I wanted at least 8 individual compartments but most of all I wanted it to be as deep up and down as possible from the bottom of the drawer to the top and still of course clear the lip to close which was 3.5 inches. What I found in my research is that there are plenty of expandable options to choose from. There are several with 8 compartments but not a ton. And then I found there are even fewer with 8’of varying widths and lengths . But the HARDEST thing was finding one as DEEP as I wanted —3.5inches. Most all were less then this. Anything less then this would not accommodate the NUMBER of individual type utensils I wanted in EACH compartment which was my whole Purpose in finding a new one. (I have a LOT of knives , a LOT of salad forks, a LOT of teaspoons and a LOT of TABLESPOONS,etc.) This is only one of two that I found at this depth. It’s came and is perfect! So well made, very sturdy. Not a scratch it splinter in it. The individual panels separating the compartments are thick and sturdy and look to be securely in place.
