Great Product, and an Excellent Value!
I'm rather impressed with the quality, and functionality, of this product, especially for the price. It's well made, sturdy (I've admittedly dropped the remote a few times, with no apparent issues), and certainly gets the job done when needed, even with my rather headstrong, 8-month old male Shepherd. I'm not sure it will continue to be as effective when he's fully grown, but for basic reinforcement of training, it definitely fits the bill. The only cons I've experienced thus far are as follows... 1) The little rubber tab that is intended to pull out the entire rubber insert/seal covering the charge ports out of it's seat tore away off after a few charges, but it really doesn't affect my ability to still get the seal out from the corner. Maybe just thickening one of the corners, for better fingernail contact, would work better? 2) I sometimes wonder if, even with the longest prongs, it's making a constant good connection with his skin on the shock setting due to his fur, as sometimes he responds much more noticeably to the shock setting than others. However, this either be due to the collar still being a bit loose (I recently set it to the tightest normal setting I could... see below), or it could just be an inherent, and unavoidable, shortcoming of the concept as a whole, yet if so, I honestly can't envision a better way to do it? 3) Having some sort of instructions on how to loop the collar for smaller dogs (he was a runt, and only about 30 lbs. when I first "introduced" him to it) would have been appreciated. While I did ultimately figure out a workable configuration, I pride myself on having excellent problem-solving skills, and still scratched my head for a few on this one! LOL Regardless, the unit is an overall excellent value in my opinion, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again... even if, or when, this one possibly reaches the end of it's lifespan. I frankly don't foresee that happening any time soon, though, unless the battery eventually stops holding a good charge? Only (a lot of) time will tell on that one, though.

Effective, and the vibrate mode is all it took.
i- Tronics has been sincerely committed to our satisfaction with this product. And the trainer collar itself? WOW! Why did we not try this years ago!!? We have a schnoodle who always wanted to bark at night. He is not a yapper, but come nightfall ( in his mind )there were things "out there" that needed barking at. If you have a dog that does this, you'll know what I mean! We found that if we gave him a reward when he came in, instead of scolding him - we did not even mention the barking behavior, just "Ernie. do you want this?" In a friendly voice, he'd come running right back inside (most of the time) to get his cookie. Which was great, but was not the ultimate answer. I don't think he ever went out to bark in order to get a reward when he came in, but he sincerely expected a reward when we called him. Funnily, this is not what prompted me to try this collar. At about 6 years of age, with no prior problem with this, he began "humping" legs when he was happy to see someone, or when my sweetie had his attention turned toward me, if you get my drift. So, I investigated collars, NEVER knew there were collars out there that had a vibrate function, I only was aware of the static shock type. I saw this collar, read about the vibrate, etc, and decided it was worth a try. It only took once, to get the humping to stop (on vibrate, turned to max lol) Every so often he regresses. but I only have to put the collar on him, and its enough. So, it worked so well, I tried it for the night barking. He can not run back into the house fast enough if he gets vibrated! This took a few consecutive nights, but, it too stopped the behavior. And, like with the humping we only (usually) have to put the collar on him, and its enough. No zapping required. This is such an affordable option when it comes these dog control collars too. I remember being torn between this one, and another that cost a lot more (but had more reviews) and took the chance on this one. I'm so glad I did. So, now I know it doesn't even take a shock, the vibrate was extremely effective, and I'm sure our neighbors appreciate it too :)

Not sure if you can beat it for the price.
This collar went on a 90lbs German Shepherd. First - collar fit and quality - The collar that comes with was plenty big enough for her with room to expand. I switched to the long contact prongs right away and had no issues with them making contact through her thick neck coat. The collar and clasp are basically a standard bargain collar with a plastic clasp. If you have a small dog you can use this for pretty much anything you would use a collar for. If you have a bigger dog this collar's only purpose can be for the training device. (Ex. If I were to tie my dog up using this collar, she would snap it and might not even realize she had been hooked up to anything). If your dog likes having a collar on like mine does, this collar works great. If you have a dog that doesn't like collars or has a habit of ripping them off or breaking them, keep an eye on it or replace it with something a bit more durable. Second - the static shock trainer - To start out, my dog has never and will never go through anything that I will not go through myself. So while testing the collar to see what settings to use for her I found that there is a huge range between minimum and maximum but there are some crazy jumps in output. 1-21 I couldn't feel anything AT ALL. 22 was the first setting that I could feel anything, possibly imagination, but I don't think so because 23-64 were all a gradual climb. Once I got to 65 though, the increase was no longer gradual. 60 was the lowest setting that I believe would have any effect whatsoever with my dog and there was barely a change to 64. By the time I got to 75 I was already at the point where I shouldn't need to go any higher for any training purpose at all. 80 was already difficult to maintain a grip on the trainer and 92 is where I stopped climbing because it was just too much.(my last German Shepherd was a 105lbs male, got lose from me and got in a fight with a 120lbs rottweiler, both were on choke chain leashes and it still took 4 grown men to separate them. 80 would have sent them both flying back to their owners...). I waited about half an hour then tested it at full power(100) just in case there is any issue with the trainer or a mistake on my part because I had to know what would happen to her and after about 10-15 minutes I started getting feeling back in my arm from a 3 second jolt. Now there may be an animal out there that the jolt this thing produces is needed for but it sure as hell is not meant for a member of my family.(maybe a bear). Third - range - this is my only complaint....partially. There is supposed to be a 900ft range on this thing and perhaps there is...I have not had her out in the open field with direct line of sight at 900ft but at 200 yards it works while I can see her and she can see me, however it does not work if I am on one side of my house and she is 100 yards away on the other side of my house. However I do not need line of sight for anything 75 yards and below. The range appears to be between 75and 100 yards without line of sight. Now I said "partially" because perhaps this is common with most trainers and they require line of sight to be effective to full range. Even if it is a common thing, I believe it should still be mentioned in the description. If it is not a common thing then it definitely needs to be in the description. In case anyone wonders why I would try to train my dog when she can't see me, I bought this for teaching her that she has boundaries even when I'm not around but she has way too much space for a containment fence. I have never had an issue with her running off when I am where she can she me. It's when she can't see me and thinks I can't see her that she likes to explore beyond her boundaries...which she already knows. Now she thinks when I'm with her it's ok to go wherever, which I want, but when I'm not with her she believes she will get shocked when crossing the property line. It was just a bit more of a pain trying to watch her from the roof instead of from my property line cameras on my computer. Forth - battery - This one is quick. I do not know how long the charge can last till dead from experience. What I do know is that after 18 hours it does still have a charge. In summary, make sure your dog is used to having a collar of some sort on. Test the settings to find a reasonable training level and take it as high as you are willing to go and never exceed that setting. If you aren't willing to take it then you have no right to put someone/something else through it. And keep in mind that the range is good for line of sight but without line of sight your range will be reduced significantly. All in all, I believe this is an excellent trainer, especially for the price, I docked 1 star but that was more for the description, or rather lack of, than for the product itself.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
This is my 2nd stellar review about this product and the company. I recently called customer service because one of the collar’s modes was mis functioning. Wow! What amazing customer service! The gal I spoke to was ever so nice and helpful. I didn’t have the purchase date at hand but it didn’t matter. She gave me the proper dept to email and within days I received a brand new collar and charger. Who does that nowadays? Plus I love this collar so much, I recommended it to my girlfriend in Costa Rica who bought 2 of them for her dogs. I rarely use the shock mode and only if my crazy dog is trying to kill my cats. The buzzer works great! Now when my overly energetic and extremely strong pup gets a little overly zealous while playing with my elderly dog, all I have to do is reach for the transmitter and she immediately retreats. The product is well made and when my pup accidentally fell in the pool while wearing her collar, the collar was fine. I believe those people who complain about this product don’t take the time to learn how to work it. At first, I myself was having difficulty pairing the collar with the remote but one phone call and a great guy who to took the time to guide me through step by step solved that problem. Also some folks may not realize that every time the batteries get recharged, the collar and remote must be paired. It takes less the 30 seconds and once a person gets the hang of it... it’s so easy. As additional information the remote can be used for 2 collars just by pressing a button that switches from collar 1 to collar 2. I accidentally switched to collar 2 and wondered why the collar wasn’t working UNTIL I figured it out. Also before using the remote ALWAYS make sure the settings are correct. You don’t want to inadvertently shock the pup when you really meant to buzz her/ him or you didn’t realize you inadvertently shocked the pup at level 50 when you really meant level 20. The product works fine. It’s human error that usually is the problem. Just as we check and adjust the rear view mirror before driving or check the water temperature before getting into the bathtub, please check the modes and level settings before using. And if by chance there is a problem, be it human error or a possible malfunction, CUSTOMER SERVICE will save the day!

AWFUL QUALITY
I ALWAYS give an HONEST review and today is NO exception. THIS IS MY SECOND collar with AMAZON PRIME in THREE DAY time span. The first on I received the prong attachment broke completely OFF when trying to lightly screw in the longer one. (Picture this: Much like a peg LEG, a PEG prong) I sent it back and got a replacement the next day because of amazon PRIME. THIS second one the SHOCK mode only worked (inconsistently) right after the first charge. I charged BOTH the collar AND remote separately for two hours each. Even on FULL charge - NOTHING. NOW as far as the day goes today, SAME. The only mode it works on are the BEEP and the VIBRATION mode. Vibration mode is pretty consistent. I was thinking of keeping it just for the vibration, but NA, this is HORRIBLE. On top of THAT, I purchased an extra warranty. That will be a HUGE waste OF MY TIME going back and forth not being able to provide my puppy (german shepherd) with CONSISTANT training. In the past I used PetSafe Yard and Park and it has NEVER failed me. I only purchased this because of the fact that it seemed believable and budget friendly. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (IF THAT) with this collar. I WILL be returning this for a FULL REFUND and getting the PetSafe Yard and Park collar. I WORKS ( only lasts for about one year ) but your dog knows... This, NOT WORK MORE then about $3 IF THAT. I don't mean to come across negative but I'm giving an HONEST review for those of you REALLY wanting to be consistent in training your Dog.

Works well; but some issues to consider
The Petrainer works; much better than the prong and head collars we have tried. Our dog is learning that NO means no. I am using the Petrainer on a 90lbs Old English Sheepdog. We keep him in a “kennel cut” for the summer months so he has a fairly short coat. We found that with the silicon covers on the prongs he didn't even react to shocks at 100%. Out of desperation I tried without the covers on the posts and he reacts to the shocks. Since he only wears the collar during our training sessions I'm not too worried about the stainless steel prongs irritating his skin. The one recurring issue I have with the Petrainer is the user interface. It is very easy to inadvertently switch the transmitter to the 2nd (in my case non-existent) collar or to switch the mode from shock to light. Then when you try to deliver a training correction - nothing. I would suggest two changes to Petrainer for this: 1. When using a single collar let the user pair both transmitter channels to one collar then it wouldn't matter which channel gets activated. 2. Make switching the mode a two button operation or require the user to press and hold the mode button. The one thing that can get annoying is the transmitter going to sleep mode. Once the transmitter is asleep pressing the "Y" button to issue a correction only awakens the transmitter and doesn't administer a correction. It takes a second press to issue the correction. This can be confusing at first, especially when the dog is pulling, until you develop the habit of always pressing twice.

*works on husbands too* ;D
Some dogs do really well with shock/buzz/beeper training. It's just the way it is and ours is one of them. Our dog is a doberman puppy, six months old, and we've been trying to train her on "good yard habits". Meaning she shouldn't be digging craters all the way to China or trying to tear up the garden vegetables, or eat out of the compost bin, or be horribly evil to the cat if he didn't ask for it first. You know, good normal behaviors. This collar has been a life saver, our dog was/is smart enough to know that if she running around in the backyard off leash (it is fenced all the way around) we didn't really have a way to catch her because she's fast and agile and clever. So if she was doing something she wasn't supposed to she'd run run run run run around avoiding us because we were too slow to catch her. And telling her "NO" from across the yard wasn't enough and with most dogs if you can't catch them in the act of doing it they don't really learn not to do it. SO even if we managed to catch her after the fact she wasn't learning that what she was doing was bad because she'd already "forgotten" what she'd been doing. Enter the shock collar. I am now able to sit inside and watch her out the back window while she plays in the yard. If she starts to dig, she gets a beep, if she does it again, she gets a shock. If she chases the cat without him starting it first, she gets a beep, if she keeps going after him, she gets a shock. One little beep is really all she needs now and she stops. She never wants it to get to the shock part, she learned that the first day she ever had the collar on. My hope is that in her developmental years it will become so ingrained in her brain that when she finally hits the adult stage I'll be able to forgo the collar all together and simply trust her to behave in the backyard. This collar in the meantime however has been wonderful because it's rechargeable so I don't have to switch batteries or anything, I can simply plug it and the remote in when I think they need a charge an it's good to go. The battery also seems to last a good while on one charge before I feel like it's losing its kick. I also like this collar because it has SO MANY options. It has a beeper, vibrator, and a shock. For some dogs the vibrator and beep might actually be enough alone. I also like that you can choose how "powerful" you want all of them to be. It runs on a scale of 1-100 so it's very versatile for ANY dog (depending on their pain tolerance and size), and it came with three different length prongs. I didn't want my dog to cower in fear or yelp painfully if she got shocked, that's too much, but I DID want it too be strong enough for it to interrupt and STOP whatever bad behavior she was doing and so far that has been a success. I find less and less dig spots in the yard and most times when I look out there, she's happily laying in the grass chewing on sticks and soaking up the sun. My husband also tested this collar on himself, holding in his hand and started at a 1 and slowly worked our way up one click at a time. (he didn't make it very far). It's powerful, I'll say that, and dogs do have fur and higher pain tolerance usually so you will need use your best judgement and watch their behaviors when you use the collar.

Upgraded version of my favorite bark collar
I had owned the previous version of this collar and it lasted for several years and through 2 different dogs. It finally cracked and I had to replace it with this upgraded version. They added several upgrades to this product including better safety collar, much longer range, mini USB charging system, adapter that allows you to charge bother remote and collar at same time using only one outlet. This is an excellent anti-bark / training collar for any dog. It has long range and is very responsive. I haven't measured to see if I could get 900 ft but it covers every inch of my standard suburbs of Chicago sized lawn. The remote is easy to see and adjust on the fly. The remote also has a built in LED mini flashlight to help you see at night (great for picking up if you are taking this with you on a nightly walk). This has 2 channels so if you have 2 or more dogs you can assign collars to channel 1 or 2 and control both of them from the same remote. You can also access any of the 3 modes from the remote which are beep, vibrate, and static shock. The beep is used first first and if the dog doesn't correct you move to the vibration which can be set to an intensity level of 1-99. This just vibrates the collar and doesn't hurt the dog but is definitely different from the beep. The static shock setting delivers a shock to your dog that also can be controlled in intensity from 1-99. We have never gone above level 15 and now keep it set to level 5 on the shock. I think in 5+ years of using this product with 2 dogs we have actually had to use the shock setting all of 2 times and at very low settings. Dogs seem to adjust to the beep and vibrate along with verbal commands and used that way this collar is a safe, effective, and very humane training tool that has truly worked for both of my dogs. Sometimes my dog won't come in from the yard when being called but usually just a beep or two on the remote and she is heading over to the door and ready to come inside. Also works well for training your dog to stop jumping or pretty much any behavior that needs to be corrected. Like anything else though, there isn't a magical tool to "fix" your dogs problems...any training requires some effort and repetition and a dedicated owner to make it work. Great product, I have already had at least one other dog owning friend buy this for his two dogs (he got two collars and uses each one on a different channel) after he dog sat for me and had a chance to use my collar. I would definitely suggest this product to anyone looking for a bark / training collar that is user controlled and not triggered automatically.

Great for a very busy dog.
Worked for our dog . Only had to use the vibration and she listened.

Spotty connection with remote
The strength was good... when it worked. It kept cutting in and out of connection with the remote. I would be standing right in front of my dog trying to get the vibrate part to work and it refused. When it was connected, it was fine; still couldn’t get the shock part to work. Don’t know if I had a lemon or what, but I had to return the product after only 3 days of “use”.
