Powerful, fun, and you should get it.
This book is delightful, affirming, fun and sturdy. The messaging is impactful for any age . Really. A patient who was experiencing physical changes from her treatments was so touched and encouraged by this children's book! I have purchased 3 and will get more because they're great for gifts. The simple messages are powerful.

❤ FUN & ENGAGING BOOK - Perfect mantra for ANY child: value diversity and self-love.
We love this book! My 22 month old enjoys it too! I first saw this at Barnes and Noble and thought it was adorable. I found it cheaper on amazon, so ordered it. I love that it’s a board book (durable), and the illustrations are great. I’d describe it as a modern Dr. Seuss combined with a touch of Roy Lichtenstein. Net, the art is unique, interesting and captivating! We are a Caucasian family, and I try to buy our daughter toys and books which represent our diverse world. I don’t want her to only have dolls, books and toys that look like her. I want her to understand the world is diverse, everyone is unique, and that’s what makes everything and everyone beautiful! The message in this story is truly universal. Boy, girl, black, white, blue... it doesn’t matter what you look like, this book applies to everyone. Everyone is unique, special and should be loved and liked. The storyline is simple enough to keep her interest, but not something I see her outgrowing in a few years. We have used this as a tool to teach her to love herself, and she repeats the title-phrase: “I like myself.” This MELTS my and her daddy’s heart. Exactly the mantra we want her to have. There’s a part in the book where the little girl has crazy hair, and we love that page. Our little one has light blonde, very short, very thin and “fuzzy” hair. So, she regularly has crazy hair that requires wetting and a quick brush. (So, cute!) We’ve long said to her, “crazy hair, don’t care!” She says this all the time when we touch her hair or brush it, and she recites that line on this page. It’s a fun book in many ways! Highly recommended!

Beautiful book and surprisingly a great one for learning first words.
This book is so much fun to read! The artwork is very unique and beautiful and the words just flow like a conversation. And of course the message is amazing and helps to promote self confidence. Even I feel uplifted and more confident from reading it. My toddler loves this book as well! She loves the page that talks about body parts and likes to point to them on herself and mom. It seems like every page has something a kid will love to point out like a ball, a balloon, a bike, a dog, a baby. I didn’t expect this book to be such a great one for promoting language development but it has been for those reasons. I would highly recommend this book to any parent!!Please let me know if you found this review helpful. Thanks!

Cute book with fun pictures
I purchased this for my daughter because I loved the premise of the book when I saw it on Amazon. Too often we hear about issues with bullying and mean kids taunting other children. I want my daughter to know and understand that, no matter what these bullies might say or what others might think, the only person that matters is yourself. The author fills the book with wonderfully drawn pictures of the character, a quirky and eccentric girl (I think...) who loves to play with her dog. She is subject to some bullies who make fun of various aspects of her physical appearance or personality, but no matter what, "I like myself!" The little girl certainly has a vivid imagination, as she starts to envision what she might say if she had tusks or other odd appendages. It concludes nicely. The book does seem to extend a bit longer than necessary with some repetition of themes and topics, but overall, I thought it was creative and well written and enjoyed reading it with my daughter who loves to look at the pictures.

Self-esteem for toddlers and preschoolers!
This book is a gem! I have been teaching early childhood music classes (Kindermusik) for 15 years, and this summer, I discovered this book and began reading it daily! It is always a hit. The children love not only the positive messages, but also the almost Seuss-ian illustrations. This is also a great antiracism book because we can easily identify with its young, black, female protagonist who loves herself no matter what others may think or say. If you want to build a more inclusive classroom, this book is a great place to start. It's also fantastic for building healthy self-esteem and resilience in every child.

Building self-esteem!
I adore this book. As a preschool educator working with children ages 18months to 5 years old, I want to help the children in my class feel and embody love for themselves. I try to go out of my way each day and make sure each of my friends know that I care about them even when they are having a hard time making good choices, when they are sad, or frustrated and I want them to know that it is normal to be wild and also angry. This book was given to each of my friends for their book exchange from me to them, instead of a present exchange in class for the holidays. Love, love, love this book.
