Nomad Portable CD Player, Discman with Headphones, FM Radio Bluetooth

I have been collecting and playing music cds and cassettes my whole life. ( glad I dodged the 8 track tho ). I have had many personal and boom box players though the years. I Got to say I have never had a personal cd player that had as much technology built in as this device does in all my years. In today’s world of technology it seems companies are making these old school players cheaply made just to make a buck or two but this company did something right ! They went the extra mile and built a device to take care of the customers. I took a chance and got this player and I am impressed. It has a lot packed into a small device. First a great cd drive that plays the cd perfectly. It never skips because it loads the music from the disk ahead and the cd actually stops spinning to save battery life until the next song while still playing the track. Also packed into the device is a FM radio that works great. And also a micro sd card slot for hours of digital music along with Bluetooth for wireless listening. And 5 equalizer settings for different sound. And sockets for wired earbuds. A nice led screen to see easily in the dark or light. It seems well made and comes with several goodies like earbuds, charging cable, line out cable and a case. It’s a very nice device for all the old schoolers and new generations. Just a couple of minor details would make it better. Possibly a customizable equalizer setting and the case not quite as tight for sliding the device in and out. But definitely not a game breaker. Buy it. Like any middle child today in their mid 40s who grew up either creatively “borrowing” their sister’s Discman or trying to jump start my Memorex (because I was hard on things my parents absolutely did not get me a discman and I am in no way bitter about that 35 years later…nope…) I needed a portable CD player. I doom scrolled the Amazon cd player results adding then immediately deleting item after item in my cart - like a meth addict on tinder trying online dating for the first time - because let’s face it - the paradox of choice is real and Amazon leaned into this about as hard as humanly possible. Enter KLIM. Maybe it was exhaustion. Maybe it was frustration. Maybe it was meant to be. We won’t ever know, so I closed my eyes, wished on a star that wasn’t visible and clicked checkout. The next day - because why not - a nice dude in a silent yet audible electric van conversion appeared in front of my house and suddenly it was Christmas in June. KLIM had arrived. The painstaking waiting interval of - 14 whole hours - was a FINALLY over. I ripped the packaging open like a rabid dog - or painfully lonely middle aged man desperately trying to reclaim his youth through a cd player - and settled into what would become this review. Like any good 80s/90s kid I immediately cursed my lower back then got to it. Grabbed the trusted, tried and true Radiohead Ok Computer disc, plugged in the included headphones (which are really nice btw), closed the lid and hit play. Here is where the review starts. I forgot how subtle yet incredibly loud lossless vs lossy audio was. CDs sound better than any streaming service. Period. Anyone my age or older knows this but I sorta forgot this. I grabbed the iPhone and using an identical pair of headphones queued up Parnoid Android - and I’m no audiophile - but the difference is stark. CDs are better. You can hear the musical details I had forgotten about or maybe never noticed (misspent youth) but were always present. I test dropped the player on my bed a few times. No skipping. Satisfied with whatever that “test” result was I moved onto the next phase - driving. Yup it works. I have a late 2010s car and it works with my vehicle. Cool. What I’m getting at is this is better than my old Memoroex garbage truck player and not as good as the fancy Sony Discmans of my day / but I’ll take that. So buy it. This one. Well not like THIS ONE - that’s robbery because I won this one - but you get my point. Seriously - it’s cool. Do it.

I just received this today and have to say this is a really great CD player....Excellent! Great sound, love the EQ and the lighted up display screen and especially the fact it's rechargeable. The ear buds that came with it are pretty good but i bought higher end ones and the sound is exceptional. Excellent quality for the price.

the product is marvelous and produces great sound when playing classical music in both cds and fm radio. However, when I acquired and connected two Tribit Sound Go speakers the Bluetooth stereo sound was great but caused a problem: if somebody else in the house turned on the tv, the tv watcher started to receive an endless series of prompts asking whether they wanted to connect to a Blutooth source (meaning the KLIM). No matter how many times the watcher refused said connection, they received another prompt. How can I fix this?

On the surface and initial test this is a lovely unit. It paired with my bluetooth speakers after a second attempt, but failed in the playback of a CD that was 72mins long. The final song was unplayable with endless skips and distortion. Not sure if this is a known issue with these units. Apparently some need some sort of firmware update but I can't be bothered. Decided to return and get something better. If you only have CDs that don't go all the way to 75-77 minutes, like 10 -12 song CDs, then you may be fine with this. I am sure if you contact support they would walk you through a firmware update if you are brave. UPDATE: I got a second unit and the playback issue seems to be gone. Not sure if it is that I allowed the caching to save the last songs this time around or not. But happy this unit is working as expected. I was also able to pair it with my AirPods Max and love the full sound I am getting with those.

Yesterday Amazon delivered some love to me. I cut the factory seal, carefully opened the slick jet-set box, and began to fall in love with this KLIM CD player. Fun start reading the comics. Then my eyes glazed with joy on the wood finish, whoa baby. I like the big well-lit buttons, too. Ok, cool, it's easy to hold and manipulate the console. Can't miss the well thought out controls layout either. The volume toggle feature appears spring loaded to feel-confirm up or down increments. Yeah baby, I like what I see and feel! It was time to make music to hear the sound quality. The Nomad’s Bluetooth connected seamlessly to my portable Bose speaker. Now the Nomad spun a CD by Michael Jackson King of Pop, revving the engine in the way you make me feel. Exceptional clarity of sound waves in this pairing. Note - I'm still not successfully connected to my LG neck set. The LG shows in the search list, gets highlighted, but no sound. Will check further. I got a sensational level of high fidelity sound from the CD player, especially through the included KLIM ear phones. It was a truly remarkable and nostalgic experience listening to the clarity of Grand Funk Railroad in I'm your captain on selection 8 of the CD. And I'll do it again, and again and again... The combined portability, battery life, and quality of sound by the player is priceless, but there's no sense in paying too much. I found the features and performance in this CD player package to be well worth around sixty bucks in Aug 2025 economics (likely before tariffs).

This is a nice unit, EXCEPT for the Bluetooth connectivity! It is very poor if there is ANYTHING between your receiver (earbuds, speaker, etc.) and the KLIM. I was trimming a tall shrub, the KLIM was on a patio table about 20 feet away; as long as there was clear line of sight between me and the KLIM, all was good. As soon as I worked around to the far side of the shrub the reception was shredded. The range is adequate at 30 feet +/-, as long as there NOTHING between you and the unit. I’ve had a SONY Discman for years and the range and reception was always good. The only reason I went shopping and chose this was the SONY developed a battery problem and was no longer portable. The Bluetooth technology in the KLIM must be really old! Update 11/23/24 The unit developed some control problems and some options for playback were no longer available. Emailed seller, got a prompt response (<24 hrs) asking for more detail, supplied more description of problem and included to photos of screen. Seller concluded it was a hardware problem and offered to replace it with brand new unit (under warrantee), without asking me to return the old unit first! Great service, upgrade to 4 stars, will go to 5 if Bluetooth is better....

I’ve tried a few different brands of CD players and even refurbished of brands like Sony but this player blows them all out of the water. Bluetooth works perfectly, the sound through my headphones is fantastic and it’s super durable and built well. The EQ is hit or miss and I usually only use one of them if I even use one. But that’s the only real negative. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Voor deze prijs heb je een zeer veelzijdige cd speler met bluetooth, de mogelijkheid om van micro sd card te spelen, een mooie beschermcase en prima oortjes. Geluid is uitstekend. Ik gebruik hem thuis bedraad met een speakertje en dat is genoeg voor de huiskamer. Onderweg met een bluetooth koptelefoon werkt uiteraard ook perfect. En hij ziet er ook nog eens mooi uit :) Klantenservice van Klim is top, snelle reactie. Geen spijt van.

The KLIM Nomad is of good quality. The build seems solid and not flimsy including door opening and closing. The buttons have a good feel and make good contact. The display is easy to read and pleasingly, back-lit; a luxury after years with unlit minidisk displays. The sound quality is good to my ear. (I'm 60 and used to work in night clubs so make of that what you will.) I have played music using the line out and the sound is good on a couple of sets of small speakers I own. It sounds great on my big stereo in the house. I have a Bluetooth to FM device in my car and it sounds fine through that. Connecting was not a problem although the seller did warn of potential problems with some bluetooth implentations. I bought this player to play CD audio, mp3 CDs and to use the card socket. All options sound great. Navigation works well and the DIR button will jump you to the next directory on the current media, where present. One slight quirk I found was when navigating directories on the SD card: it doesn't seem to take you the beginning of the directory. Instead, it drops you into the middle of it. I haven't found any pattern yet but my files do confirm to all sensible conventions in terms of naming and metadata so I don't know what's going on there. It is a minor inconvenience. I was pleased to find that the player will remember the point where you pressed stop or turned the unit off, whether that is on disk or solid state storage. I haven't let the player battery go flat though so I don't know if you'd lose your place in that instance. The Nomad defaults to CD when turned on, so if you're listing to content from the SD card and you turn the unit off, it will default back to the CD when restarting. Selecting the card with the mode button will bring you back to the last listened track on the card. (You might be able to fix this 'issue' by removing the CD but I like to have both media on standby and I haven't tried it.) The unit will also connect to previous Bluetooth devices and start playing by default. I turn it on when I start my car and within a few seconds my music selection is playing. Most convenient! I have not tried the FM radio in the device or the supplied headphones, so I can't comment on those, although the headphones look like they might be decent quality. I also haven't had the Nomad on a long, continuous play just yet so I can't really comment on the battery longevity, although so far it seems okay. I thought at one point that I may have made a mistake buying the white unit. I handled it with dirty hands and marked the player but it cleaned up well with a damp, soapy cloth. If I have one complaint about this unit, it would be that I was expecting more from the DIR button. Pressing DIR will take you to the next directory but that could become a bit tedious if you were trying to navigate a card with over 100 directories on it, as I have. I would have liked, even hoped, the DIR button would bring up a list of directories through which you could navigate before selecting the one you want. Alas, it doesn't do that but that is my only significant complaint. The saving grace is that every time you turn on the player, it picks up where it left off. I tend to work my way through my music collection from one end to the other so I will probably be happy to just let it play until it gets to the end. Overall, this is a great little player. I think it is excellent value for the price.
