Nothing Tops This One
Rats love this stuff. I like it because the active ingredient is an anticoagulant, Diphacinone, which is far, far less toxic to dogs and cats than rats, and the antidote is Vitamin K, which all vets stay stocked up on. Other rat poisons contain Bromethalin, which is much more dangerous to dogs and cats—don’t take my word about the antidote for Bromethalin—look this one up yourself. So why would anybody use Bromethalin? You get kills after one feeding, and quicker kills. Blood anticoagulants like warfarin and Diphacinone are much slower and might require two feedings. I use Diphacinone because I had much rather take my dog to the vet than use Bromethalin get out the shovel and have a backyard burial due to my stupidity. One time I thought my dog had consumed some rat poison—I was in a panic attack until I discovered the poison was warfarin. I knew I had 48 hours to get to the vet. had used Bromethalin. But as it turned out, I had forgotten that I had moved the poison to a safe spot, but after that happened, nothing but blood anticoagulants for me. Ramik kills them dead right away, the entire family. This is not necessary but I like to drop a few drops of cod liver oil on the Ramik so the little <expletive deleted> will smell is easier. If it is one thing I can’t stand it’s a rat. I despise rats. I have studied rats and I have used most every rat poison on the market—as well as many that are now considered too dangerous to be on the market— and nothing tops Ramik. There are brands that match Ramik, but nothing tops it. You will not go wrong with this one. I have found that Ramik is not water resistant. If you put it outside where it could get wet, I recommend putting it in a sealed plastic baggie. The rats will chew right through that baggie when they find it, and they will find it.

Very effective!
We hate having to kill any creature, but we live out in the country and the mice & rats know no boundaries. We've tried all kinds of deterrents, with no success....they just kept coming and destroying. We finally had enough and bought these pellets. Finally, we got relief. They are very effective and we highly recommend if you've reached the end of your rope trying to deter them.

No problem getting them to eat the stuff.
I have a cabin in a rural area and there are a lot mice forgaging in the area. I don't like them nesting under the house. Thought to try this stuff instead of D-Con because it is a lot cheaper. They really have been eating this stuff. 4lbs in two weeks out of bait boxs. Ususally with the d-con they will eat a lot at first and then not so much when the population goes down. I have put more bait out. I will know if it actually kills them when they stop eating. Not there yet. It is fall and they are probably putting in their winter stash. I will post a follow up. Follow up: I have put out a couple of pounds of this stuff over the last six weeks and it keeps getting eaten. Its in a bait box with 1.25" holes so I am pretty sure its mice. Ususally the first couple of bars of D-Con get gobbled up quickly and then they sit for weeks at time. I am assuming it was because there are fewer mice. They eat so much of this stuff that, even if it is effective, it is more expensive than DCon. I believe that they are taking it back to a hollow tree somewhere and storing it as food for the winter. This might be a good reason to use bars that they can't easily steal. I have only seen a couple of dead mice but most may have gone off into the fields to die. I am going to try something else. The consumption quanity and the comsumption rate does not follow the pattern that I saw with D-Con. Follow up to the follow up: I used some bars laced with Brodifacoum and Bitrex. They ate a couple of the bars and nibbled on the rest. They have not eaten much in quite a while. I suspect that the bars are too big to be dragged off and they end up chewing off what they can. I believe that this actually kills them. The consumption has fallen off so I am confident there are fewer mice in the area.

squirrels
We had a major problem with squirrels hiding in the engine block of our cars. I did not want to hurt the squirrels, but after $1500 in damage, I was done. I put out 15 pellets in a little pile in the flower bed next to the drive way. The next day, ALL the pellets were gone. We still kept seeing squirrels so put some more next to the flower bed. The pellets are small enough that the squirrels stuff their cheeks with them and take them away. Finally our squirrel problem is done. Be advised that this product attracts the animals to take the poison, so you do not want to put it IN your car or engine block, just near the car so they take the bait and bail. I still see squirrels down the street, but they avoid our property now, which is how I want it. Excellent product. be advised, dogs are attracted to the fish smell, so put it somewhere pets are not permitted.

It did nothing so far :(
I rarely low-rate stuff. This time though an urgent need (to get rid of the pests) clashed with a real disappointment. We got a bag of poison a month ago. One star because the rats were crazy about those green balls and the trays with those had to be refilled every couple of days. These are packrats, rodents that I believe had to be affected by the poison like others. Yes I'm aware they store a lot of food but they do have to eat in the meantime, don't they? So the five days had passed and we tried to be patient... meaning lathering all the corners with undiluted peppermint oil and occasionally spraying it in the face of the pests that kept growing bolder and sometimes would run straight at us. The rat trap didn't work either. The beasts were too fast to just hit with a poker... it went on and on. Seems like there were only two of them but trust me they can ruin a whole household. One evening I was chasing one of them with the spray bottle. It jumped into the speaker, and my partner grabbed some notebooks to block two holes in it. We carried the whole thing outside and put rocks on top of those. After a week the scratching was over and he threw the dead thing out. At this point I don't give a rat's rear about any "humane" way to get rid of them. Because the second rat is still there, up until this day, causing trouble :( The bag of poison is long gone and the rat is still alive. How many bags will it take to kill just one? I don't know where the exact glitch is. I was already feeling a tad anxious when other reviewers warned about the dreaded five days before the poison kicks in. But a whole month and no result is truly frustrating. There aren't many pests, just these two. I don't want this place to be in shambles because of the one stupid packrat left which no one is able to destroy. Patience doesn't feel appropriate. Ick.

Can confirm. It’s working on voles.
I have voles. I was skeptical at first seeing things like “they have a fish scent and voles eat mostly vegetation, etc” but I can confirm. It does work on voles. It’s been dry so moisture didn’t come into play but I rolled a few balls down each hole. I didn’t even go crazy. Just maybe 3-4 balls down five or so holes on Sunday. It’s Tuesday and I saw a dead vole on the lawn. Not sure how many there are but I’m hopeful it kills off what we have.

Might kill mice, or might not
I used these pellets to eliminate mice eating their way into my outdoor shed. But I cannot confirm that these work because I have not seen any dead mice lying around. Interesting, I kept the bag in my shed. The last time I attempted to use it the bag was empty! Mice inside the shed had eaten the whole bag! But where are the dead mice? It appears to me that the mice must like the taste, and they joyfully devour it. So, is it killing them or just giving them a free meal? I cannot say because I don't see any dead mice anywhere.

This was a great product. It took about four days of heavy dosing rats. On the fifth day not many came on the sixth day. None came of course I’m still monitoring it and leaving it out at night. It needs to have at least two weeks without any coming out to eat. This product is great because the mother gets it in her milk and gives it to the babies. I have a cat in the house and I closed the door and only did it one room.
