Yamaha CS40 II 7/8-Scale Nylon String Guitar - Natural

Nothing bad to say about this guitar for the price. I replaced the strings with a new pack right away and did notice a better tone.

I am no expert but I purchased this guitar for Christmas his guitar teachersays the sound quality is awesome. My little boy is 9 teacher says this will suit him until his teen years. Highly recommend this item looks great as well !!

I am a beginning guitar player, but somewhat of a hobby craftsman. This guitar is of moderate quality, good tone, and an unbelievable value. However, it is very poorly set up. The "action" or the distance between and frets and the strings is way, way too high. It must be adjusted and set up by someone that is proficient in such matters. Also the neck is wide enough, but the string spacing is too close. I replaced the nut, lowered it, increased the string spacing from 7.5 mm to 9 mm, and re-worked the bridge. Is this important? Only if you want a guitar that is easy to play.

I would agree with all the reviewers who say this is a great value for money, bare bones, nice sounding classical acoustic. The only issue I have with it is that mine arrived with a major crack along the bottom. That and that the G string would sound better with a metal wrapped wire but that's a minor issue as new strings are cheap.

It is not often that I am so pleased with a purchase. It looks good and sounds good. I have two vintage guitars that I seldom touch. I throw this one in the back seat of my car as I go on trips. It is good to have as you are killing time in a motel. If you have an interest in guitars, at any level, you can't go wrong.
