So I wouldn't say it's anodized. **Q: Would this work on 1/16" stainless cable? Any difference to the breaking strength instead of stainless ferrules?** A: Yes, work for 1/16" stainless cable **Q: I am a rookie at this. Do I need a special tool to crimp with or can muscle/pliers work?** A: I’m sure that a “plier” type device can be made to work, but I would suggest that you get the proper tool to assure yourself that it’s a safe install . I first bought a fairly large crimping tool from Princess Auto for $39- but yesterday I returned it to buy a smaller but more efficient one from Home Depot for $61.
