Bear Says Thank You (Hello Genius) [Dahl, Michael] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Bear Says Thank You (Hello Genius) Review: A great "Thank You" book. - I bought this a year ago when my little one was a year old. She was engaged with the simple story, the bright colours and cute, bold artwork, so that was enough. I didn't think there was much to it beyond that. We didn't end up reading it a lot until recently and I've totally changed my opinion. Like many others have said, there's something about this book. I've coupled it with explanations on why we say "thank you" and "you're welcome". Now she's saying it unprompted quite a bit. I'm not the type to prompt my child to say all the time at 2 years old because I dislike that whole "what do you say?" bit. I don't want her to parrot. I'd like her to understand why and want to say it on her own. This book has definitely helped. I'm pretty tickled! For reviewers saying that Little Bear needs to learn manner/to say please. In my opinion, Little Bear is musing to himself about what he needs for his project, not asking Mama Bear directly. When you say outloud to yourself..."I need this" and someone hands it to you, a please isn't required. Plus, it's a "thank you" book. Not a "please" or "manners" book. (And they want you to buy the "Penguin Says Please" book.) That's just how I see the situation! Review: Love the "Good Manners" ones in this series - Been trying to find a simple book that talks about manners in a context that is appropriate for my toddler and this book fits that bill. We are trying to teach our daughter good manners and I like that this one is just a cute story, with adorable illustrations, about a little bear asking his mom for craft supplies (because he is making her something) and each time she gets them for him he says "Thank you". It is simple and subtle and a story that doesn't get instantly boring to read. After receiving this one we went ahead and ordered the "Sorry", "Excuse Me" and "Please" books as well. I am sure that we will enjoy them just as well.

Manners for kids
This book has really sweet illustrations. It is a very simple approach to teaching manners to kids in a very adorable way. Little Bear is asking his mommy for things to make a painting and says thank you every time she brings him something. It's a very cute book.

Good book, but Little Bear clearly needs to work on his manners....
To my daughter (19 months) and I, this is our favorite of this series; we have the please, and sorry as well. I like this one because I think it gets the point across the best, whereas the other 2 might not so much. It also has the cutest story!! My only gripe with this book is that it is supposed to be teaching manners, but Little Bear doesn't say please, not one time!!!!! We are teaching our daughter to say "please" and she does, but when I read her this book, I add in "please" myself, because he should be saying "please," and I don't want her to think demanding things like that and not saying "please" is okay!! The story is the little bear asking his mom for art supplies, and when she gives him what he asks for, he says "thank you." At the end, he makes his mom a sign that says "I love you" in glitter and lots of colors. Super cute. The mom says "thank you" and the baby bear says "You're welcome, mama!" Simple, easy, to the point. My daughter loves it. Little Bear should definitely be saying please to his mom though. Just sayin.

Simple and effective
This is a great book for toddlers because it has a few words, and toddlers get the idea right away. I havenโt found any thank you books like this one.

So cute! Toddler learned "thank you" from this.
The little bear in the story is planning a surprise for his mommy, and every time he gets the supplies he needs from her, he says "thank you." When he completes his surprise, and gives it to his mommy, she responds with a "thank you" too. I would've liked to see the mommy bear say "you're welcome" in response, but since the title is what it is, guess that wasn't the point. My toddler learned to say "thank you" when I give her things now (her milk, juice, a toy out of reach, a book to read, whatever). Guess it was the repetition of bear saying the phrase, and the illustrations of mommy bear giving him what he needed. Again, this is a good, sturdy book with big illustrations and 1-2 sentences of text per page. Just right for my 16-month-old bookworm. We're collecting the series.

Very cute manners book for toddlers
This is one of my favorite of the Hello Genius manners series. The illustrations are adorable and the text does not drive me insane if my son wants to read it every night for weeks. I also like the story-line in this one more than the other manners books because the toddlers can relate more to the bear wanting to make something special for his mommy. I definitely recommend this book for helping little ones learn manners.

Dahl books are the greatest!
I love how these books (Dahl boods) give just enough info for my toddler to focus on the word or phrase at hand. Totally teaches language! He is soooo into learning that he gets excited every time I get a new Dahl book for him. we read them over and over and the language is just reinforced all through the book without extra language to get confusing! Love these books! (however, for a while when we asked him what a bear says he would reply, "thank you.") lol
