Review: Best Beginners Candle Magic Book...and I’ve Read a Ton of Candle Magic Books - Buckland writes the best candle magic books hands down always has. I have used his candle magic(k) books my entire adult life (decades) and I think they are the best overall. That being said, he can be a bit obtuse, but it’s a fantastic place to start, especially with dressing the candles and conceptually what candle magic is... Now, I was the kid in the library reading the library as a child...so I’ve always been a bit odd. You want degrees I have degrees, and I’ve studied every kind of mythology for kicks...some I’ve incorporated into my graduate studies... That being said...I’ve read tons candle magic books... His are not the easiest to read. But the structure is there and how and what to do with the candles and the intent. Where to put them and why. He also given you tons of this is how to set this up and we’re going to do this over a week and move this from here to here. And he give you a laundry list of spells, which most people like. So, I’ll slap this review on both of his books. Practical and advanced:) I like this best to start, it gives you everything you need to do candle magic, and you don’t have to cast a circle like you would in spell work. So, gotta love it. To me, your best spellwork will come from yourself, but you need to learn the basics...and this a good place to learn them. After this...and you learn the rules...don’t hurt yourself or anyone (or try to control them)...or do anything stupid...if it feels stupid it is...you’ll be on your way...but start here... Review: Great book. Good value. Responsible seller. - My book got lost in the USPS system and after several weeks I let the seller know it didn't arrive and they worked with the postal system to try to get it on the way and asked me to wait another week, which I did and it still was stuck in the mail. Since it had been so long and the book still did not arrive, the seller refunded my money. The next week , a month after my order, the book finally arrived. It is a very good book on candle rites and is well written and simple to understand. It is a great read and a good value. This book does not disappoint and neither does the seller. Thank you for working so hard to get this book to me.

Excellant Book but READ THE INTRODUCTION
This book is easy to read, follow and understand. It includes diagrams of the altar at the top of all the spells' title pages which was REALLY helpful, has fantastic spells and includes a wonderful alternative to burning candles for when it's just not possible. However, to get the most of this book you need to READ THE INTRODUCTION!! There is so much helpful information in the INTRODUCTION, covering everything from why the not so nice spells are included to the altar and fasting (the latter not required). ANY one interested in candle magic can use this book. It's definitely worth buying!

Great practical book for burning candles
This is a good book for color candle burning. I love candles and I love colors. I choose this book because I wanted to bring in positive energy into my house. Color has a way of doing that as dose fire and smoke it purges your space of negative energy and brings in the positive. Great read and fun book.

Complicated Candle Burning
“Practical Candleburning Rituals: Spells & Rituals for Every Purpose” by Raymond Buckland, another addition to Llewellyn’s Practical Magick series, is arranged into two sections: “Old Religion Rituals” and “Christian Rituals.” This text also includes two appendixes, Appendix 1: The Darker Side, and the second unnamed appendix that deals primarily with creative visualization. The second section, I presume, would be used more by “Christian Witches” as they’re known. While magic may seem to be the antithesis to Christianity, Christian Witchcraft is in fact quite similar in some ways to Kabbalic practices. What’s interesting is the many of the rituals are similar among both sections (e.g. “To Soothe and Quiet the Nerves” and etc.), usually with the text being changed. In fact, most of the “incantations” in the second section are borrowed from the Christian Bible—and particularly from Psalms and the Song of Solomon. I like how Buckland provides a figure for each ritual, showing where the various items should be laid on the altar. However, the type of rituals provided are a bit heavy and negative. For example, the author includes rituals titled, “To Gain Power Over Others,” “To Arouse Jealousy,” and “To Gain Control Over Others,” but doesn’t really discuss ethics or personal responsibility with his readers. Overall, this was an interesting book, but modern-day Pagans don’t need to follow a proscribed “recipe book” for candle burning. Rather, this book provides readers with some great examples of how to create their own rituals.

Somehow it works
This will be the fourth copy of this book I have owned since I started on my path 40 years ago. Other copies were leant out-never to be returned, lost in moves, etc. All I can say about it is the damn thing just works. I have used both the Pagan and Christian versions of the spells and they both always seem to produce the desired results. Being a witch I tend to usually go for the old ways version, but depending on the situation and the spells' words or "lyrics"; have used the Christian ritual with very good results. You MUST work these spells. Meaning you have to invest some time in them in order for them to work. Most are not quick, impromptu, fly-by-night one time wonders. They are fairly involved and require days sometimes weeks to come to fruition. But good things come to he who waits. There are no ritualistic tools like the Athame, pentacle, specific botanicals etc. used in the workings. They usually require no more than colored candles, incense, candlesticks, a copy of this book and the WILL to make things work. If you are new to spellcraft, I cannot think of a better primer than this to start you on your way. Highly recommended. Good job!

Great for "spell recipes"...
I actually like the spells and info contained. Interesting that Buckland gives you the "old" and "new" versions of the same spells. But as a beginner I was really hoping to have more information about how to read/utilize multiple types of candles... This is a good book if you are looking for spells that will include mostly alter candles and not much more. But if you are looking to have an explanation of how to burn all candles and how to understand the results, I'd still get this book but I'd also look for another book to go along with it that is exclusively dedicated to providing that information.

Here is my review!!!!! :)
Love this book it is well written I find the actual wording of the spells a bit long and drawn out.But I also found them to be effective and helped me in writing and performing my own written spells! If you like this book I highly suggest you read GOOD MAGIC by Marina Medici which I also found to be a very effective and a well written book. When choosing a magic book to study I suggest you choose one that kind of "calls out to you" asks you to read it look at the table of contents to see if the subject matters interest you.I hope this information helps you to decide what book to purchase and practice and may you all live happy wonderful magical lives.P.S believe in what you are doing say to yourself over and over again this is going to work and hopefully your actions will create a reaction!!!!And reject/choose to not practice that which you feel to be "evil" or of wrong doing because YES it could backfire and trust me you don't want that in your life.

Love it
Make sure you are not just readings through the incantations. Take a minute and imagine and feel the feelings for each sentence. This book makes the above steps easy & tells you what to imagine, so dont stress it too much. Heres a big tip u wont find in the book. When your doing these spells & regardless if your using the pagan or psalms version. Try to not think of the persons involved as something outside of you. When you’re saying your incantations, say them to the thought forms u created in your mind . When u calling out to GOD he's not something outside of u. Also, u really dont need all these candles. U could just use 1 candle. I do like the days that are recommended & the amount of time suggested. There is power in repetition, so i do highly agree with that part. U will know when u need to stop. It all depends on how quickly your subconscious mind takes to be convinced. Happy spellcasting ☺️
