I use these for my son in preparation for his exams and they are excellent . No such resources are available in the market .

For any child that may have built up a fear of these exams these were great to have examples at home that you can sit and talk through with your child. They also have good quality videos that you can access. You get four papers covering the different areas of the ciriculum. I felt they were good value for money and really helped my son.

While other learning resources for kids around 7 years old still attempt to offer up something colourful, maybe with some illustrations, there is none of that here. These are mock exam papers, black and white, looking as serious and grown-up as the exam papers they might encounter at GCSE and beyond. Getting some seven-year-olds to be building to take these on, if they’re not being forced to do it as part of their schoolwork, is a bit of a challenge in itself. ‘Fun’ is not a word that’s going to come up when describing these tests. There are four test papers, all of which are plain A4 sheets, printed single-sided then stapled together. The product photo that makes this look like a bound workbook is somewhat misleading. Each test paper follows the same format. A short piece of prose is followed by a series of comprehension questions, starting with simple ones (the instructions say ‘answer in full sentences’ but many children will be tempted to answer these with single words), and working towards more open-ended questions that require a bit more interpretation and which are decidedly harder to mark. Some of the prose may be familiar to some kids- a bit of Pinocchio, a bit of The Brave Tin Soldier- but most of the answers can be found within the prose. Some, however, seem a bit trickier even from a grown-up point of view, for example the question prompting you to describe what “tame” or “head over heels” means, on a single line. I know what they mean but I’d struggle to feel like I’d explained them properly in just half a dozen words. Then the second part is the composition section, where the child has a choice of two themes, one directly connected to the prose extract in the first section, one more loosely connected just by a title. The child then has to use their imagination and story-telling skills with a fairly loose brief. This is a much more subjective section to mark, beyond spelling and grammar of course. As a physical product this feels a bit overpriced for a bunch of printed A4, though the print quality is OK. As educational content, it seems reasonably well thought out, and clearly focused on the true exam experience and real exam questions, though four test papers still doesn’t feel all that comprehensive.

So I ordered these thinking it would be a book for set exam practice but no these are set of 4 exam papers. They come in a brown envelope and are loose, just stappled. But, these have really been very helpful in getting my son prepare for comprehension for his Sats exams which are due in few months. Its worth the money and i would definitely recommend them.

I was looking for something to help my son in comprehension during the holidays and this has proved to be incredibly useful. One thing to note is that they are papers not a book but the quality and the materials inside are amazing and I am happy with the content so far.

This is a good set of mock exams. Perhaps sadly exams are exams and need to be practise as such. As much a child is better off practising on material pretty similar to the actual papers. This is a good selection of papers for guided practise.

These are proper exam papers to practice at home. The questions are well designed. Very handy and useful for doing mock exams at home and also to see how well-doing in English. Very helpful and practical for when the real exams come.
