This stuff actually helped a lot

My 240 gallon acrylic tank was cycling, the ammonia stayed high overlong, even the plants were complaining. Added Amquel +, saw the ammonia go down within a half-hour. Ditto with nitrites. Nitrates have not gone above zero since adding. I'm pretty impressed ... and that doesn't happen easily. NOW ... here's the rub: Kordon claims this doesn't interfere with cycling a tank, just that it binds ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate ... I guess like chemical sequestration. They imply it doesn't come back into solution, but they do say the nitrogen cycle bacteria can still break stuff down. Also, there doesn't seem to be any consensus, either from the manufacturer or consumers, on how often you can/should add more, or if there is some toxicity level. Kind of vague. If you plan repeat doses, I'd tread carefully, and only base additional doses on testing. Also, to be able to get an accurate reading, there are certain reagent systems that are invalid if you use Amquel+ .... but the readily available API Master Test Kit does the job nicely.

I've used this product on my 55g Fresh and a 10g fresh water aquarium. It does indeed do what it promises on the label and did indeed lower my nitrates and in my 10g aquarium my amonnia as well. My measured nitrate drop 10-20 PPM in my 55g freshwater after 2 days. However, I would excersise caution based on other observations in both of my aquariums. In both of my aquariums, I observed a drop in PH to the lower side of .3 to .6 within one day. The use of PH buffers to raise the PH and keep it stable is highly recommended. It also drops the oxygen level dramatically for at least a day so having an air stone or bubbler is an absolute must. DO NOT dose your tank without increasing the oxygen level via an air stone or you may lose your livestock. After a couple of days the oxygen level seems to rise again. The product label does tell you to increase your oxygen levels when dosing.

This stuff is worth every penny. My Axolotl tank parameters are always 100% on point since I've started using this stuff. Not once have I needed to adjust anything! Get it, it's worth it!

Works great at detoxification but I guess they needed to increase the price by DOUBLE because we must all be making more money? So did their whole product line. Very disappointing. They were the one truly affordable brand, and within 6 months time they doubled the price and are just as expensive as everyone else now. Thanks alot from all us broke hobbyists!

Got this because I’d seen some amazing reviews. I was a bit nervous about using it after seeing a few terrible reviews too. I followed the instructions to the letter. My nitrates were sitting around the 80ppm mark. No chance of survival for any invertebrates. Even doing big water changes I had been struggling to regain control. It has taken a couple of weeks of using this and two water changes. I now have the nitrates down to 10ppm. Almost there. I have tried other products that haven’t helped at all. This stuff is brilliant. My fish are all healthy. There are no signs of ill effect at all. My unwanted algae has almost gone and my goby is more active. I will continue using this and be ordering more. I strongly recommend this product if you are struggling with nitrates and literally throwing money down the drain with water changes that have little effect. Regain control with this stuff. Update... just checked my nitrates again and they now read 0ppm. Pretty much the only time they have ever been at zero. Update number two. Well, I got lazy with water changes and let everything get out of control. I lost fish and got told off by the wifey! A bit of tlc and using this stuff and we’re back to zero nitrates again. This stuff is just amazing and can help people like me that get lazy from time to time. I would say it’s worth having for those just in a case moments.

I’ve been using this product for sometime now and it removes ammonia within hours. It’s a shame that it has to come all the way from the US to the Uk and there isn’t a more local supplier. Recommended.

I originally use Prime. However, I don’t think it’s very effective in removing the ammonia. My tap water contains 1ppm ammonia ( Chloramine) so I need better solution. I use both API master kit and Monitor Ammonia Test kit to test ammonia after using Amquel Plus and Novaplus together. You could see it becomes yellow (0 ppm) from green ( 1ppm). I used 15 ml of 30 gallon tank. Since I don’t have livestock so I don’t know any side effects to fish. But so far it meets my goal. I like it ! Also recommend Monitor test kit as the color is more distinguishable.
