OMT 21pc Ball Joint Press Kit, Ball Joint Tools for 2WD and 4WD Vehicles

This was purchased by a retired mechanic. I was skeptical because of the low price. It worked amazingly well. Not using impact tools is really not a problem, a long handled 1/2" drive ratchet and socket had the ball joint out of a 15 year old truck quicker than I would have believed. Instead of using an air gun I just tapped the control arm with a hammer between each tightening of the tool. Well worth the price for home use.

I rarely write reviews but after using this ball seal press I feel compelled to offer some commentary to balance out some of the negative feedback that others have tagged it with. First off, you get what you pay for and this press is clearly not marketed to or intended for the professionals in our world that use Snap-On and other high-end tools on a regular basis. This is not a press that is going to hold up for every-day use but it functioned superbly for the intended use I purchased it for --pressing a lower ball joint into the control arm of a 20 year old Honda Accord. I might use it again in a few years but the reality is that it's going to get called into service on infrequent basis and that's all I need. I don't know how some of the folks leaving feedback managed to bend a tool like this because it is very stout but I imagine for one reason or another they were applying a serious amount of torque into the clamping mechanism and went beyond the capability of it's design.

The variety of receiving cups and press bases is nice and really help if you need to get creative with your removal or installation process, but definitely consider it a one time use. Your mileage may vary, but I got two ball joints removed and installed and one of the cups failed (as pictured). 4 stars on ease of use because the variety and a little intuition goes a long way, but some markings for sizes might be nice so I didn't have to measure/eyeball everything. 5 stars for value - did one cup get damaged? yes. But the replacement process was quick AND easy! Chalk it up to a less than ideal quality control issue that's easily mitigated with great customer support/service. 3 stars for durability because one cup did fail under normal use while the rest of the kit passed with flying colors 5 stars for AMAZING customer service. At the end of the day, I got the job I set out to do done. Most of the pieces seem sturdy, and customer service was great. I (believe it or not) actually look forward to the next ball joint job in my future thanks to this set. EDIT (5/30/2020) Seller reached out within a day of me posting a review - I didn't even have the chance to contact them. Awesome that they took the initiative to make things right. Replacement is already on the way, and their customer service was polite, prompt, and effective!

So clearly this thing isn't as robust as a Snap-On - but it also costs a fifth of the price. For the average guy who does a ball joint once or twice a year, this should be more than adequate, I believe. It comes with a good assortment of parts and pieces and an application guide that helps take the guesswork out of which ones to use (which I've shown to be accurate in two instances). The main clamp isn't bulletproof, but it's good enough to get it done. I'd be sure to use plenty of lube on the threads and at the various contact points, and the instructions explicitly state to not use an impact gun - so I haven't tried it. It only takes 30 seconds to wind in a ball joint manually anyway, so who cares? If the metallurgy on the 'C' itself was a little more robust I'd have given it five stars, but even so, I think it's well worth the money and likely to hold up for years.

I ordered this and it hadn't came in by the time I did one side of my truck I use the O'Reilly Rent A Tool and it didn't it worked got the new one in did the other side and it worked a whole lot better than the rented tool highly recommend well built

Feels great easy to use and understand feels good made finish is nice and part lock together pretty good

gets the job done, but poor build quality

A little expensive, but if you ever need a press, anything out, this thing will work

El producto se ve de buena calidad pero tuve que pedir la devolución porque no es compatible con el tipo de rótulas que trabajo, las medidas del kit son mas grandes e incompatibles con mis necesidades, por eso hice la devolución y solicite mi reembolso, el empaque llego dañado (como se puede ver en las fotos) pero supongo que ese fue el transportista, si tuviera el kit las medidas que necesito me hubiera quedado con él.

Me ha funcionado perfectamente para sacar las rótulas del trapecio del coche. Se ve fuerte y bueno. Lo recomiendo totalmente

Fantastic, Easy to use, Made Changing my ball joints Easy, I also used it to change the bushes on the lower arms that had the ball joint on, I am well impressed, a bit pricey but most of the money repaid on the work it's done so far and 2 more cars I look after it will have paid for itself when I do those - when needed.
