Are they exactly 4X4 or slightly larger

yes, no and maybe. They are hand made and are close to 4x4. We bought 100 0f them and none were larger than 41/4. Most were 4x4 give or take a small variance. Had about 5 broken in each box. Some had a slight bow in them. Some out and some in. We didn't bother w/ the bowed out and the bowed in don't show unless you really look for them. Over all, most pleased.

Can you use these in a swimming pool?

Don’t know but I doubt it. They are clay. I used them as inserts on Saltillo tile patio floor. Used a high quality outdoor sealer. So far so good. But constant water and chemicals from a pool seems like a bad idea.

I would like to give these as wedding favors to be used as coasters. Would they work and can someone tell me what the backside looks like?
