While the colored samples are still pictures of the original watercolor artwork rather than colored samples of the actual designs in the book, the problems with the tiny details (especially on faces) is much improved in this book. Details are more finished (less open ended, sketchy type details.) Coloring in it is easier as well as being able to use more types of coloring medium with larger nibs. The designs are quite lovely with lots of spring themes. There are flowers, birds, outdoor scenes with fun activities like kite flying, walking in the part, riding bicycles, and shopping in an open-air market. The designs are quite detailed and do contain intricate and small areas to color. It is not a book that I would recommend to anyone with fine motor or vision issues. I noticed that the feel of the paper is slightly rougher than other Creative Haven books I have ordered in this last six months or so. I like the new texture as it is even better for use with colored pencils. This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium. 31 Spring inspired Designs The designs are printed one side of the page Paper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly rough and has perforated pages. Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple. The designs stop well before the perforations and each of the designs has a framing line at the outer edge. Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paper Water-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the page Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink. Coloring pencils work well with this paper and even better than many of the more recent Creative Haven coloring books I have bought. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page. I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below. Review: Relaxing - I love coloring. These are relaxing and cute coloring books.

Good Stress Reliever
I have found the perfect stress reliever. You can start to color and stop anytime, not something you have to finish immediately. Beautiful detail for adults, not cartoons, something you can relate to and enjoy watching the pages come alive.

Nice coloring book
I like it ! I am using watercolor markers, I put a plastic sheet protector, because it bleeds through. It works

I’m a fan of Creative Haven colouring books, but because I know it’s an imprint of Dover Publications and the company is based in the USA, I was wondering, if the Spring Scenes would appeal to me. Don’t get me wrong, there are many beautiful places in America to visit and to see and it sure is fun to find all this lovely locations as motifs on the pages of a colouring book, but I was hoping for Spring Scenes with a more international flair. Luckily, that’s exactly what I got and I’m very happy with the variety of Teresa Goodridge’s lovely designs. Sure enough, there are the “all American” pages, showing Manhattan or the Capitol in early spring, but there’s also Venice (probably my favourite design) and there’s a Dutch windmill or a table for two outside a café, which looks like the lovely ones in Paris. There are April showers with lots of umbrellas, parks with benches, greenhouses with tulips, garden birds, the Easter bunny and so much more. I love, that there are full page landscape sceneries as well as pages with a variety of small items to colour (wellies, watering cans, Easter eggs, etc.). I also enjoyed to see, the motifs offer various difficulties, some are more easy and straightforward (gorgeous spring flowers, bird houses), others (children playing with kites in the sunshine or people walking their dogs along the river) are more challenging with more intricate areas to work on. I will try and upload a few photos with my review, to give you a better idea. The colouring book contains a total of 31 beautiful designs, all printed on one side of the page and all pages are perforated. That way, you can easily remove the pages, if you want to frame them. The paper is of medium thickness and I would recommend to put something (paper, cardboard) underneath the page you are working on to avoid bleed through. Personally, I prefer to separate the pages from the book and to place them on a clipboard. Overall, I found the colouring book of good quality and it offers with 31 different designs a lovely variety of motifs to get you in the right mood for Springtime.
