I personally thought that the new 4K rendition of these movies were very well done. The movies were crisp and very clear with appropriate showing of its black and white features. As always, it is a pleasure to view these movies with Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr., and the lesser known, but still exceptionally talented, Claude Rains. Viewing these movies on my 65" screen gave me much pleasure. I was able to envisage myself as sitting in an audience back in those years when the movies were all new and young. It is my hope that Universal will begin work on a second volume with 4K UHD updates of those superb movies. I would personally like to see a second volume consisting of four films, in 4K UHD, including: Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy (with Karloff), The Son of Frankenstein, and The Phantom of the Opera (with Claude Rains). Perhaps a third volume showing those fabulous movies from the 1940s with multiple classic monster characters in each feature. With the next volume afterwards having all three movies representing the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Plus, those very highly respected silent movies about The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera with the one and only Lon Chaney Senior. In addition, it was with much pleasure to be able to view all of these excellent documentaries related to those movies which were properly provided with open captioning for folks who are not well versed in the spoken English language and those who are deaf. The documentaries were very well done with viewpoints concisely provided by prominent horror movie scholars. They should not be missed by anyone and certainly enhances the viewing pleasure of these movies. All in all, it is a well done and much appreciated product. Keep up the good work Universal! Review: Classic Universal Monsters film in beautiful 4k at a great price. - I bought these on sale at desertcart and got a great price. All of the films look great in 4k and the sound is good too.

Very Much Worth The Upgrade
I’ll admit that I struggled whether or not to purchase this set in 4K UltraHD. After all, I have DVD and Blu-ray copies, and the Blu-ray release was especially vivid. Also, other sets had the entire series of Universal Horror Classics relating to each main character. … And just how much of an improvement could there be in the three films that were made in the 1930’s? In my opinion, FRANKENSTEIN, THE INVISIBLE MAN and THE WOLF MAN are “must-haves” for the film collector in this format. There were scenes in all three that were so vivid that it almost seemed as if I was “on location” when the film was made. (I’m a huge fan of FRANKENSTEIN, and I would have purchased this set if only to have the “little Maria at the lake” scene! Yes, it was that amazing!) My hesitation with DRACULA (and the reason why I’ll likely rely on the Blu-ray copy for future viewings) is two-fold. First, in scenes where there is a great deal of gray-shading, the appearance of film grain is so noticeable that it is distracting … and DRACULA has a lot of fog. Secondly, I had never noticed before that quite a few scenes had the featured character in slightly soft-focus. As an example, one shot has Harker in the foreground in slightly soft-focus, while the lamp on a table some distance behind him is sharp and clear! I have absolutely no idea why it was shot this way, but it causes the 4K UltraHD version to appear flat with only one or two shots that provided the depth frequently seen in the other films. I could adjust my screen’s setting to a darker “Cinema” resolution, but I’ll stay with the Blu-ray for this one. Still, I think this set is wonderful and is highly recommended.

Impressive.
I got this as my prime day suggestion from Amazon. I was so impressed with how improved the Wolfman looks?!?! Stellar! I’ve yet to dive in the other movies but will soon. Seriously the 4K upgrade is impressive and very worth your money!

Stunning set for some of the most iconic flicks ever
The set itself is amazing. I love the packaging and the 4K transfers look amazing. Real upgrades from the 2013 blu rays, even if mainly in the depth of the picture between light and dark. Darkness comes off inky black really setting the vibe for the flicks. It's like seeing them again for the first time, especially for someone who grew up and memorized them as a kid from television broadcasts and/or VHS tapes. Delivery is another story. Like the companion 4K set with Bride, Mummy, Creature, and Phantom it took two attempts to get a copy not dented, battered, and broken from Amazon. A real easy solution would be shipping these particular sets in a box instead of a plastic, barely padded mailer envelope. For the money it would save the company from replacing broken and dented sets. It would also cut down on customers waiting on replacements. Ridiculous that I received another item that would be just fine in a mailer envelope in a box and this in the mailer... That aside, I am really happy with the product itself and it's a welcome upgrade.

2KのBDは従来盤と同じですが、4K UHDは本編のみならず映像特典にまでしっかりと日本語字幕が入っています。それでこの値段、ファンにとってはもうタダみたいなものでしょう。
