Matrix Oscillating Tool Attachment (BDCMTO)

I have never had an oscillating tool like this before, so I cannot compare it to dedicated tools of this type. What I can say however that I'm amazed at what this tool can do, and surprised at how well it does it. So versatile. Seems well made, operates well and used standard blade attachments. From flush cutting finish jobs, cutting rigid insulation, cutting plumbing pipes, sanding and shaving off some parts with just a too snug fit - this attachment is amazing. It is a joy removing grout, and much faster than manually scraping it out, and the vibration scraper blade makes tearing up old linoleum quick and easy. Even scrapes paint well. I never knew these tools could do so much. For about $30, and with many high reviews I figured I'd give it a shot - it has extended the use of my Matrix system in a big big way. My only regret is waiting to add this to my Matrix system, should've added it first thing. Amazingly versatile, effective and affordable. This is perhaps my most used Matrix accessory, seems it always comes out on every project.

I bought this as an addition to my Craftsman set. It works great with it and it very versatile. I also bought one of the multiple blade/tool sets, so I have a tool for just about everything: cutting, trimming, sanding and a whole lot more. Just buy a new blade/tool if you need it to do something else. There are some good starter sets here on Amazon for $20-40. I can't speak to long term reliability but mine has taken a beating in the time I have had it with heavy use without even a hint of hesitation. This was not the first add on attachment I bought for my Matrix system, but I wish it had been. I use it almost as much as all the other attachment combined. If you have one of these sets, get this tool!

I got this to be able to do some repair work on the outside of my house where I really didn't want to be fighting with an extension cord the entire time (I do already have a corded oscillating saw). This was a simple solution, but I got a nice surprise when it arrived and I noticed that I won't be limited to only using the quick-lock blades/heads. There is the option of using the universal, bolt-on style blades, also. While the unit didn't come with the retaining bolt and plate for them; it does have the threaded receiving block underneath the quick-release lever. This makes it a whole lot more versatile than I realized when I bought it, and means I can use it for everything I already have blades/heads for without having to go buy new ones just for the quick-lock mounting.

The oscillating tool itself is great to replace another bulky corded item in my shop, snaps right into my matrix drill body, and the quick release is not too difficult to use with one hand, though it is not a universal fit. The hold down only accepts B+D and Porter Cable blades with a large round 12-hole pattern. Universal blades with 12 long thin slots instead of round holes, or blades which do not have a slot on the back to go around the arbor, will not fit. So, you are either restricted to purchasing maker-specific blades like the BDA1212, or adding the following magical missing piece of the puzzle, which should have been included in the box. In order to utilize your current blade collection, you must get the "Exchange-a-Blade 2070262 Adapter for Porter Cable". This goes onto the outside of the arbor of the B+D attachment with an included screw. It is a very snug friction fit, but once you screw it on for the first time, it should not come off anymore. This will let you use the B+D tool with pretty much any old blade with the 12 slot pattern (though you will have to use an included allen key to screw them on). This does not preclude use of the quick change, so you can still use Porter Cable blades after the conversion if you wish. I wish this part came with the tool, and though it is under $10, its just an annoyance to not be able to get to work right away. I believe the South African variant, the MultiEvo, does include such a screw and washer in the attachment kit in order to use other blades.

Another Youtube project. With this tool, not hard at all, though my knees hate the ladder work. Used this tool to cut the bad fascia out and to cut off the nails under the drip edge that I couldn't hammer down. Replaced with 1x6 hardie board that I pre-painted. It'll outlast me. The tool made the job pretty straightforward and performed perfectly.

I love the matrix tool set. I have a cordless and a plug in unit. I purchased the sander attachment first and i should have done my research a bit before i did. Save your money and just purchase the oscillating tool attachment as it come with a sanding attachment. I did use my rockwell oscillating accessory attachments in this unit however they did not fit within the pegs but the clamp kept it snug. It is super quick to change the accessories on this. I agree with the other reviewer, it is no match for my Rockwell Sonicrafter but it is good for lighter jobs and is a great addition to the matrix set.

Every woman should have a Matrix in her toolbox! If you work around your house fixing little or big things, or doing small home improvement projects, this is a very versatile tool to have in your repertoire! The Matrix interchangeable tools are very easy to put on and remove, and I haven't found one that doesn't work well. This was a very worth while purchase, and I find myself using it very frequently. The oscillating tool does a great job with various cutting jobs around the house.

I purchased the matrix system from Black and Decker because (1) I was looking for a versatile tool for small projects, and (2) the Black and Decker name. I have the drill, the Jig Saw and Oscillating tool attachments and they have performed well. Interchanging attachments is easy and connection is solid. The tool has performed well for the small/medium projects I have done over the past two months. The drill alone is very solid (I have the 110 VAC model) and performs exceptionally well. I plan to buy the cordless as well to some flexibility. Recommend highly.

Yo tengo el sistema Craftsman Bolt-On el cual compre muy emocionado, pero en México solo se consiguen 3 tipos de accesorios, o cuatro si tienes suerte los cuales son , desarmados (que normalmente está incluido), el rotomartillo, la cierra de disco y la caladora, cada uno tiene un costo de $1,200 MXN pero siempre se encuentran en promoción y terminan costando unos $850.00 MXN, cuando busque mas accesorios no logre encontrar en ninguna parte, y encontré que los blackandeker son idénticos y compatibles, además de que un poco mas baratos, funcionan perfectamente , solo no intenten usar las pilas de matrix en Bolt-On, ni viceversa. Exelente producto, y muy buen precio.

Excelente producto, llego a tiempo y en buenas condiciones. Yo lo voy a usar con el sistema Bolt on de Craftsman. Funciona de maravilla.
