Good book, outdated illustration
Good Starter Carpentry Book for Kids This book is a great introduction to basic woodworking for children. The projects are simple and easy to follow, even for beginners with no prior experience. The only downside is that some of the illustrations feel a little outdated and could be clearer for kids trying to follow along on their own. Still a very useful and fun resource. ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Good Little Book
I bought this for my son to go with a set of "grown up" hand tools he received as a Christmas gift. The book is well written with just enough illustrations...not cluttered with too much information. It's like the author is standing next to you, talking you through the entire project. Every project seems to be laid out in logical order. A caution I'd mention is that the reading level suggested with the book is Ages 4-8...which is accurate...but reading level and carpentry skill are not the same. My son is 6, and this is fun with LOTS of adult supervision. I think he will enjoy this book more when he is in the 8-10 age range. One other caution I would mention is that this book was written in 1959. Some of the projects - like the shoeshine kit - are a bit dated. So, all in all, I would recommend the book, but for an older age-range and don't expect anything high-tech here.

not what you're looking for
Not what I expected. It's very much out of date. I think many of the plans and designs could be adapted, but there really isn't much call for a shoeshine box these days, among other items. I thought this would be great for my grandsons, but there really isn't anything in here they'll want to build. I can't imagine why they even reprinted something this dated.

Building memories
This was an add gift from my children to their dad. Great projects and love the nostalgia or an older print edition. They can't wait to start working on projects together and building memories.

Good project book to teach kids about creating things from wood.
This book will provide a lot of fun with adult supervision. It can be used along with Real Construction tools and 'wood' since those come with pictures of projects but no plans for size, etc. Older children will be able to make these projects pretty much on their own, again, with adult supervision. Well worth the price.

Carpentry projects
This book is really cute and has great early carpentry projects for kids. There are pictures showing what the directions mean. I love that the children are encouraged to use actual tools. The book definitely has a vintage feel, but I think that is what adds character to the book. I can’t wait my Little’s to try some of the projects this summer!

I bought 3 woodworking books for my grandson who loves to build and work with tools. This one, woodworking for kids and kids building workshop. All were excellent with projects a 9 year old can make--they say 7 to 12 but I think a 7 year old would need a little help. I chose this one to write about because it's the cheapest but you won't go wrong with any of these books if your youngster likes woodworking

Great gift and very easy to follow

The book is not good. It's must be decades old and the projects are not inspiring. Each project runs into the next. Needs a total overhaul to compete in today's market.
