Will this bit work on engraving rocks or stones? If not which one should I use?

Thank you for your question! The Dremel 9929 Diamond Point Bit is designed to be used with our model 290 Engraver. The 290 Engraver is an impact engraver. By selecting a higher number on the engraver, it increases the impact. The 290 is capable of engraving in stone with either our diamond tip or our carbide tip (9924). However, to get more desired effects in the rocks/stones you are engraving, you may want to consider this product in addition to use of our high speed rotary tool on the materials you are working with. Will these bit hold up to be used in a cnc to engrave steel? if so what depth can they achieve?

No. I bought them to engrave a stone. They don't hold up. I ended up using a drill bit. Lasted longer.

Does it come with the tightening screw?

This 9929 is used for ONLY our 290 Engraving tool. This 9929 is just the bit (accessory), it doesn't come with a screw. (The screw is actually with the tool when you purchase it). Does this work with the dremel 290?

Yes. It's made for the 290 dremel. It replaces the bit the 290 comes with it better bit.
