What a unique toy! I watched my 5 year old great-grand daughter play with this adorable racetrack and was surprised to see that although the three penguins climb up the escalator back-to-back sharing a single track--they really do "race" down the easy to put together racetrack. The penguins are evenly weighed which helps them zoom down the track when they reach the top of the flashing rainbow colored lighted steps. There are 3 penguins: red, blue and black. They have spikes on both sides of their little bodies that hook onto the escalator as they climb step-by-step to top of the steps. The spikes also prevents them from falling off the track. You have the option of playing with it with or without the Carnival-Style music. Even when the music is turned off, the track still lights up. "We" both enjoy playing with it. It doesn't come with the 3 AA batteries--but for $14.95--buying a few batteries is well worth the price of this great toy. Originally, I was looking for a racetrack for her matchbox car collection; but they were all priced way out of my price range. If you're looking for a great toy for a 3-6 year old (or for little ones that don't put things in their mouth), then this toy would make a good choice. I plan to buy more of this toy to give as gifts to her friends or donate to a local charity during the holidays.

Firstly I would like to say that I have very fond memories with this toy when I was a child, so naturally I was very excited to see it again, I was weary because this had 0 reviews, what ultimately sold me on it was it had a switch option for the music as others did not and the music is very.... boisterous to put it nicely. Without the music there is a slight mechanical noise which was to be expected, it is not overwhelming at all. win! This is smaller than I imagined as a child myself but those things happen 😜 Our elf brought this as a gift because 'he' was impatient and wanted to play with it. The penguins are adorable. My 4 year old is completely occupied and very into this toy as I'm writing this. The plastic did not feel flimsy or like it would break when putting it together. I was woken up this morning with my son's excitement for this toy, so it took me a few minutes to figure out how the tracks go together as there were no instructions, but it was not impossible to figure out. Only gripe is the wording "runing go" instead of "running go" or "penguin race" which is not a huge deal. Overall just as fun as i remember and no crazy music is mandatory!

We've been enjoying this toy quite a bit. I wanted one when I was a kid, so I got one for my own kids! The music is very loud, so we run it without the music. When our package arrived, we were disappointed to find that there was a metal spring missing under the battery compartment- so it wouldn't run at all. Luckily, I had decided to pay a bit more to order with "Prime" benefits, so I was able to order a replacement and return the defective item with no extra charges. It's a simple toy, but actually a lot of fun to experiment with how close it far apart to have each penguin on the stairs. Our favorite is to try to time it so that one penguin is always "jumping off" while another is "climbing on" the steps. I'm off to order a set of replacement penguins (or maybe dogs or pigs?) to have more pieces ready for when we lose some, or break off the fragile bits. It's fun, but seems like something that really will wear out or break pretty easily. The plastic seems fairly brittle, and the whole thing just feels pretty flimsy. Even so, we're enjoying it while it lasts!

Coolest little gizmo for birth through about age 4. My grandson stayed mesmerized by this dog track often. We got it for him when he was a few months old. As he became older and stopped just staring at it, he would turn it on so it was running constantly while he was playing with other things. The original broke when an adult accidently stepped on it. We immediately bought another one. Grandson is 5 1/2 now. Hasn't touched this track in months. But he sure enjoyed it for his first few years. As did I. For us, this was a good purchase. I will miss watching him watch it.

This is a great gift for all ages . I bought as a birthday present for twin girls I watch and they love to watch the penguins climb the stairs and slide down. Music is great too! The girls have a 2 yr old brother and he has kinda “ taken over “ the toy!

This is fantastic! Easy to put together…the pieces all fit nicely. The puppies slide the whole way without any issues. I’ve ordered others that I returned due to the characters not climbing the stairs. This one works perfectly. The kids (One and two year olds) absolutely love it. Sound works really well too. Highly recommend.

While the sound adds to the excitement for kids, parents will have to get used to it (or invest in some earplugs!). Also, watch out for those penguins lying around—stepping on one hurts more than you’d expect (speaking from painful experience). And if you’re assembling it or adjusting the slide part, be gentle! Pushing too hard can cause the edges to break. Despite these quirks, the fun factor makes it worth it. Just handle with care and be prepared for the noise!

Well packaged grandkids opened and couldn't believe I found another one my 13 year old had got one when he was 2 and it quit. This is the same replacement

I bought the earlier version of this toy 35 years ago for my niece. The toy has been a topic of conversation for all these years, so when she recently had her babies, I went on the hunt to find something similar. This toy is easy to put together and runs on 3 AA batteries. Apparently the earlier versions had annoying music that couldn't be turned off, but this gives you the option of sound or no sound. Thirty-five years and my niece still giggles when she sees it. I don't know how long it'll be around, but I hope it holds up for many years to come.
