Could this charger be good for apple car play?

Yes definitely. The one I had previously in my car 🚘 unfortunately had a break in it, so I had to replace it. I bought these and put one in my car for Apple Play. Works perfect. You can charge your phone and play your music at the same time. It’s great!!!!

Will this actually work with opening up my itunes? I've gotten a lightning cable before that itunes from apple did not recognize.

In that case, the cable you got before was flawed. All non-flawed cables with this connector will work for iTunes. If this cable does not, then it is flawed and should be exchanged (for free) for one that works.

Charge and Data ..better than just a charge cord.

It's necessary to have a data/charging cord and not just a charging cable. These work great so I can backup my iPhone and charge simultaneously.
