Well worth the price tag.
Those of you might question the price of such a thing, but I can tell you after buying it and building it, it was well worth the money. Lego has always had extremely high quality plastic and after building it, which took ~11 hours (spread over a couple of days). It has almost all the major scenes in some capacity. From the prison breakout, to the trash compactor, a hanger, the pit that they swing across, even the generator that obi-wan turns off is a small section of it. The surprisingly heavy instructions are metal ring bound, so it's actually easier to look at than your traditional instruction manual. It even comes with a little information/Q:A thing in the front before the actual instructions start. This quality very much holds up. i built it and picked it up and it felt very solid. It's clear they have some of their best workers on it. It also comes with enough figures to cover all of the death star scenes in the original trilogy. 3 different versions of luke, for example (ANH Luke, ANH luke dressed as a stormtrooper, and the dark RotJ Luke. and various imperial officers. All in all it holds up it's value to other lego sets. Legos have never been cheap but no one complains about their quality and this more than held up to that. As a huge Lego fan and Star Wars fan, this was definitely worth the purchase.

He absolutely loves it and had many hours of enjoyment putting it together
My 10 year old son has wanted the Death Star set for several years so this year for Christmas I decided to get it for him. He absolutely loves it and had many hours of enjoyment putting it together. There is a lot of pieces and a lot going on. The instruction manual is huge! He rated this as the best Lego set out of the hundreds he's put together. Yes, it's expensive but if your kid is like mine and puts the 500-1000 piece sets together in almost no time this is worth it.

So much more then a sphere
Saw this at a friends house and had to get it. Thoroughly enjoyed building it. Love the thought that went into the cutaway design to depict so many scenes from the trilogy.

Worth every penny. Truly awesome.
This set was amazing in every respect. So many pieces, so many details, such a great design and such an impressive final result. The instruction book is massive and a collector's piece in its own regard. Best part was how long it took to put together and all the casual conversation with my son ("quality time") that took place over the days we did it together.

Great for kids and adults!
This set is fun of playful and fun features! There are some areas that don't look right to the eye but they are small and a small price to pay for this set! On the subject of price, it may be over priced (I for one thought it should have been $450 but LEGO always over prices there Star Wars sets) but even though it cost $500 it is still worth it! If you are younger than 13 years old I would not advise getting this set. It was a very long build that, although it was very fun, was tiring. This set is one of Star Wars' best UCS sets to date and is fun for kids and adults!

A must-have for your Lego Star wars collection. Love how interactive it is and a big hit with the kids. Love all of the Minifigures.

It is a huge kit (4000+ pieces) I am amazed at the ability of our kids to build such mega sets. Instructions were great and the manual weighs more than the Lego pieces! We seemed to always be looking for one 6-spot rectangle and had to borrow one from an upcoming bag, so we may be short in the end - but we have lots of other Lego pieces to find an extra. My son will build, display and play with this Station for a very long time. Thank you!

Ordered this for Christmas for my Boyfriends Son -- first of all this box was almost the size of me and I'm 5'2". I was actually very shocked by this. K is going to lose his mind on Christmas Morning ! I can't wait to see his excitement.

Cannot actually tell what it is going to look like upon completion, as it is hours of work. Bought it as a Christmas gift but the box has been opened and directions perused. Looks amazing and the recipient of the gift is 42 years old. Certainly not for young children but most appropriate for the over 30 age.
