I have not tried the 8x42 Swarovski but I have the 10x42 NL and I Iove it, especially since I bought the Forehead Rest which eliminates a lot of shaking. I have another brand of 8x42 but I am as comfortable with the 10x42 NL despite the additional weight, because of the Forehead Rest.

how do you attach a harness?

If I understand correctly, and the harness is what I'd call the strap, it is attached to the little nubs you see in the image. They also spin freely so you can take out and unwanted twist without removing strap from your neck.
