The focus is on the guitar
OK, the focus in on the guitar - keep that in mind as you read this review. I waited several days after receiving my Vangoa 12-string guitar before writing this review to make sure my review is fair and honest. This 12-string guitar is well built and has a really nice sound, even with the strings that come installed on it. It is comfortable to hold and play. It does not appear to need any adjustment by a luthier which is nice for instrument of this price level. The action is where it needs to be so, for a 12 string it is easy to play. I used my SWIFF wireless transmitter/receiver into my Fender Acoustasonic amp and it sounded really nice (though I need to tinker with the settings on both pieces of equipment). The accessories that come with the guitar have some issues. I had a string break almost immediately after tuning it, but sometimes that happens when tuning new strings on any guitar. The good news is that it came with a spare set of strings, so I replaced the string with one from the spare set and was up and running again. The tuner that came with the guitar is a bit difficult to use, but once I figured it out, I was able to use it. And I used the tuner next to my Snark and it worked correctly. The capo is a bit of a problem because the rubber that contacts the strings is inflexible, so while it may work OK on a 6-string, it does not hold the higher octave strings down properly resulting in muted sounds. The guitar comes with a strap which is great if you are a short person with short arms, but I am not, so I need to get a longer strap. The guitar bag is OK, but since all of my guitars get their own case, I'll be ordering one soon. All of this accessory stuff is immaterial, though. Remember: the focus is on the guitar. This 12-string guitar has a very nice feel and sound and I have not been able to keep my hands off it for the last 5 days. I did a lot of research before making the purchases and am completely satisfied with my choice. It is a great addition to my collection.

Excellent value made well.
Five stars a gave it. It is made well the action is nice. For the money you cannot beat it. I’ve played 600 dollar 12 strings and this plays right up there. Bring it through an Amp and wow, now you’re on stage playing with a guitar that sounds great. I played it for about 4 hours the other day and another 4 yesterday. I bought a hard case to help the strings maintain tuning better. Better than leaving out in the room. It is a pain to tune them. I am very satisfied with this instrument. It looks really nice too. I purchased the Brown.

You will love it
This Vangoa 12-string guitar is built well and has an appealing tone out of the box. The set-up fitted my abilities and the instrument is a pleasure to play. Based on this guitar, I do not find it significantly harder to play than my 6 string guitar. The included Capo is not strong enough to properly fret the strings, so think about using your old one, if its long enough or buy something beefy ( a Shubb?). One additional worry is the apparent fragility of the 9V battery box. I just don't think that gonna last very long. Mayhapps Vangoa sells replacements. Otherwise its gonna be duct tape. UPDATE: 8 months in. This guitar still ROCKS people. It's easy to play , stays in tune , sounds great. Maybe one of the tuners is a little looser than I prefer but I say do not hesitate to buy this guitar if you like the 12 string sound!

This "IS" the 12 string deal of the century!
60+ year guitarist. This 12 string at this price is unbelievable. Every guitar I've ever owned needed tweaking and I've owned some really beautiful instruments in my day. I've been enjoying this one as is right out of the box. The only drawback was that they sent me a broken clip-on tuner. That wasn't enough to get me to return such a beautiful instrument, besides, the on-board tuner works perfectly. So if you're in the market for a 12 string, trust me, this is the one.

What is there to not like about this guitar?!
With 6+ guitars in my studio, did I really need one more? That question was answered with a resounding "YES" when I played the Vangoa 12 string acoustic guitar. The sound is rich - not just from the additional pair of strings, but the creation of so many harmonics with the lighter gauge strings. The quality of sound is undoubtedly better than my Yamaha guitars. Many will appreciate the low-action of this guitar, making it easy on the fingers. The workmanship is impeccable and the guitar stands out when compared with my remaining guitars. The guitar is heavier than 6-string versions especially at the stalk, and when wearing a shoulder-strap, the stalk will tend to droop downwards due to its weight. Now for a few negatives. 12-string guitars have much more stresses on them, increasing the likelihood of warping. I handle this by tuning the strings to a whole note lower to reduce the stress. The second G-string snapped when trying to tune to a "G" - added reason to tune it down by a whole note. The included capo is not strong enough for 12-strings. But my older Dunlop capos had no issue with the 12-strings. Be aware that the people who will enjoy this 12-string guitar the most are those who play rhythm with mostly open-string chords. Playing barre chords with acoustic guitars is anyway a paradox. It is not easy to do finger-picking with the 12-string, and so is of limited value there. Bottom-line - this is a fantastic instrument at an affordable price-point. Acoustic musicians will enjoy this guitar - so grab it before it runs out!

Good Inexpensive Guitar
Took a chance. Plays well. Good sustain. Action is better than expected. I have Gibsons for decades. Bought Fender 12, was a POS. This believe it or not beats the Fender hands down

I own a 1962 Fender Jaguar, a 1975 Fender Stratocaster, a 2006 Fender Telecaster and a 2015 Yamaha acoustic/electric guitars. 50 years ago, I owned a 12 string guitar for a short time. A month ago, for whatever reason, I became interested in having another 12 string guitar, this time acoustic/electric. I looked at Fender first, then a few other brands such as Yamaha (I love my 6 string Yamaha) and Epiphone. But then I came across this Vangoa online at a ridiculously low price. Never heard of it, but the reviews were all very impressive, so after a few weeks of humming and hawing, I decided that it would be silly not to try it at that price. When it arrived two days later, I checked it out carefully for any damage. It had been very well packaged, so there was no visible damage. Because of the tension put on the guitar neck from 12 strings, I heeded the advice of other reviewers and tuned the guitar 1/2 step down for now, without any breakage. I was a little concerned with the strings being so low, and expected to have to adjust the neck, but to my surprise, there is no fret buzz, and it is EXTREMELY easy to play. And, like everyone reports, it sounds absolutely amazing. The gig bag is actually quite nice, and the little extras are a pleasant surprise. Extra set of strings, tuner, capo (which I found works fine), picks, strap, cleaning cloth. However, I must confess that when I plugged it in to my amp, it didn't work, and I was afraid that I would have to send it back. Fortunately, after unsuccessfully playing around with the controls on the guitar, I noticed the battery compartment and thought perhaps it needs a battery. Well, the battery was in there, but still wrapped in plastic. As soon as I unwrapped it and put it back in, it worked just fine. So glad I took the chance. This is a no-brainer purchase. Thank you Vangoa!

UPDATE (July 2022) - I decided to replace the stock strings that were on the guitar with a set of Earnie Ball Light strings (under $10 on Amazon)... Now this $200 guitar sounds and plays more like a $600 guitar... No hesitation recommending it OVERALL: Very decent value, especially given the insanely low price, and no hesitation recommending it as a good option for those wanting a 12-string guitar on an affordable budget. PROS: For beginners, it comes with enough reasonable accessories to get you started. Reasonable play action, and built pretty solidly quality wise. Components mostly feel like mid range quality rather than low bargain bin quality many inexpensive guitars provide. Action and playability feel closer to what you would find in a mid range guitar, so given this is one of the lowest priced 12-string guitars currently on Amazon; it plays extremely well (and is even a good starter for newer players). While not top end tech when plugged into an amp, the build in EQ and tone controls responded far better than I was expecting (very pleased with how good it sounded). Also have to give props that even the battery for the guitar, as well as the one for the included tuner, were all included CONS: Long wait [over 3 weeks and multiple phone calls and inquiries] before it even shipped. Hopefully mine was just an unlucky fluke, but mine had very obvious pitting and crack or split under the front coating (which you can see and feel) -- it doesn't seem to affect the sound (so far), so hopefully it still holds up down the road -- for now, just looks dirty and a little unsightly, but tolerable. NOTE: very few reviews have had severe defects, and most report excellent finish quality, so I wouldn't hesitate on ordering one just based on my unlucky surface defect (guitar still plays well) Took over 3 weeks before it even shipped (even though it said it was in stock). Arrived about 1 week later, and packaging looked okay. However once the wrap was removed, there were numerous very visible defects on the surface (as in closeup photo). At first I though it may have just been packaging debris, it was obvious it was actually defects in the surface of the guitar -- you can feel the split bump. I'll simply hope it doesn't actually crack and split more, and might just put a pick holder over it to avoid risking in getting banged up further near the defect. SOUND: Definitely brighter than I expected, but I'm happy with it. In Acoustic mode, the bottom low end isn't very prominent, but when you plug it into an amp, it really does a surprisingly good job with all the tones via the guitar EQ panel. I'll definitely be looking to replace the strings with a better set, but the stock strings are good enough as a starter. ACTION: Neck was straight, and no fret buzz. Action was fairly decent [I have it tuned to standard EADGBE guitar tuning since I bought the reinforced model], though a little tight -- better than many of my past 12-strings, not quite as good as my very first 12-string, so I'm satisfied and can acknowledge as many others have said in that it has very decent playability. I didn't have any sharp edge burrs either, so the neck and frets are fairly comfortable TUNING: Once I had fine tuned the strings over the first day (letting the strings stretch into place properly), I was quite surprised to find that even though the tuning pegs aren't a high end type, they worked very smoothly, and made tuning quite simple and accurate. Once the strings had been stretched a little and settled in, the tuning held extremely well ACCESSORIES: The slightly padded case is nothing special (although I wish they adjusted the zipper opening better to make it easier to remove and store the guitar better), but it does the job. The small guitar tuner was actually a little better than I expected. I have a few higher end tuners and fancier ones, but I actually like this little tuner. It does the job, and is small enough so that it's not obtrusive, yet just large enough to see and get the tuning guidance easily - I especially like how easy it is to rotate and angle the way it's easiest to see the reading without having to remove and reposition the entire tuner. Only annoying downfall of the tuner is the power button is so recessed on the back that it can be fiddly trying to power it on/off. Amp Cord: While usually nothing really special about included amp patch cords with many guitar packs, I was pleasantly surprised that the included one was actually a very decent length (unlike the useless 3 foot long cords many seem to include). While not a high end cord, the length stick makes it very usable, and should work well for newer guitar players to start off with. Strings: As I mentioned above, I'll probably replace the strings next time I stop by our local guitar shop, but the installed strings are okay for a starter... NOTE: There are some spare strings, but only for 6 guitar regular strings (so no replacement for the first 4 higher octave EADG strings in the set) Decent variety of pick thicknesses included, as well as a strap (if you don't already have one), and parts.

This guitar is beautiful. Tuned it as soon as it got delivered and I strummed it a few times. Re-tuned it after a few hours and then checked the intonation. Low octave "E" was slighty high and the high octave "E" was a little low, barely measurable. Action is a bit high though but only slightly higher than any other acoustic and the neck had to only slightly be adjust with torsion.

I had read and watched many reviews on this guitar before buying because it seemed almost too good to be true but it is, in fact a pretty incredible guitar for the money! All of the extras it comes with help to make this a great purchase The clip on tuner that I received didn't work but that's of no concern to me because I have a tuner app that I think is incredible and use all the time and to be honest I didn't really buy this for the extras, I bought it because I was looking for a budget 12 string to add to my collection I've been playing very regularly for past week and a half since it was delivered and the only complaint that I really have at this point is that it doesn't hold tune incredibly well Like I've said, I do play it regularly and always give any guitar I play a quick tune before I begin playing and it's not even that far out of tune I did give this only 2 stars for beginners because I wouldn't recommend a 12 string guitar of ANY brand for beginners because it can be difficult enough trying to learn chords and building calluses on your fingers without having to worry about making sure each finger is covering 2 strings instead of just one! I have no regrets about this purchase except not ordering sooner Do yourself a favour and get one for yourself, you won't regret it!!!
