Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch

First I have to say, what sold me on this edition was having young kids around, is the portability and having a physical cartridge so they couldn't play it. Now a little hypocritically, I first played this when I was a kid in high school when it came out and like many have said, it was a memorable moment. Playing this for the first time with two of my close friends, was amazing. It was like nothing we ever saw before. As far as gameplay, I've only played GTA 3 as I'll be going through them in order, but IMO, it holds up very well. Aside from one other time booting up my ps2 and playing it briefly about 8 years ago, this was the first time really playing through the game again. The game is still fun, funny, and outrageous in it's simplicity. Yes, I forgot how cumbersome some of the missions were, which prompted me to bust out the cheats again, but overall I can see why, this was the first games that had me log as many hours in a game. No other game prior to this held or peaked my interest. Even today, I feel the magic of just messing around and driving around the world is still fun. Looking back or at least where graphics are today, the violence is almost cartoony and more slapstick. I don't mind the graphics and if you think these are bad, go back and watch some old ps2 gameplay footage. Personally, I wouldn't enjoy it as much if it has a major overhaul or remake. One big but weird con though is that there's no exhaust coming out of the cars. I know that's an odd thing to point out, but I always loved that in the original. Not sure though if that's the case in Vice or SA. Yes, the explicit content and writing is there, which at this point in my life I try to avoid, but there's way worse stuff that's mainstream in our culture today. But still, not something I'd let my kids play or see. It's also so amazing how replaying this game literally feels like you're traveling back in time to another era of a more simpler time.

I mainly got this game for Vice City as that one has an aesthetic that I absolutely adore, I’m a sucker for anything 80’s. The soundtrack is awesome, but honestly that goes for any GTA game. But this one holds a special place in my heart. The game runs well, hardly any issues. Having a lot of fun with it so far. After Vice City, I’m definitely playing the rest. Got this for a good price. This game is great for those that never got the chance to play the original games the first time around for whatever reason. You will not regret this purchase!

Very adult game

The same GTA games I played back in the day. I was sent the EUR version instead of the USA version, but it's fine. Some of the characters' looks have been changed a bit on the Switch version and the graphics are the same, but I'm having fun playing it. Good 3 in 1 value.

Looks better than I remember. If you ever played any of the 3 games on a OG console like a PS2 you’ll be happy to see how it runs on a switch. Got it for the Switch 2 and had no issues running any of them for any of my fellow Switch 2 players that were lucky enough to get the console on launch :)

Great. As a boomer that played gta iii on release day when I was 12 and waited at GameStop for VC as soon as the store opened with my parents - Ive had a great time so far. Played gta iii to 100% - can say I have no complaints other than a couple misplaced object collisions but very few. Working on vice city and having a great time doing it minus the glitched stunt jump tracking. But whatever. Both iii and vc are solid especially compared to the Xbox 360 remake. Forget about that trash. This plays amazingly on the switch. This is way better than the Sony PSP, Xbox 360 remakes by a long shot. The mechanics felt modernized without ruining the original challenges of the game. Both 3 and vc look great without taking away too much of the polygon look lol and I appreciate that. They really did a great restoration without killing the soul of gta iii and vc. Minor bugs here and there if you really look for them but what game doesn’t? They’re not enough to rage about. Haven’t made it to SA yet so can’t speak on that just yet. I’m so stoked on the definitive edition and I went into it thinking rockstar would pump out another piece of junk remake. I was wrong. Love it.
