He gets personal concerning basketball. If you're looking to read deeper personal life stuff you won't be happy. Me, I'm happy. His books really read as if he's saying it. Review: Great Buy/ Even Better Read! - Who knew Larry could write so well after so many floor dives for loose balls? Or even those cheap shots to the head by Dr. J?! Haha he writes with a great sense of humor, and even goes as far as captioning his photos with "My family and Me", giving you that genuine close feel with the author. The book comes in 3 "parts": "Where I Come From"- talking about childhood and early game development as well as college years- "the career"- signing with the Boston Celtics and following years battling certain players and his take on them- "Observations"- (my favorite part) where he talks of the three point line being introduced, his take on Red Auerbach, and much more. This is a great read for any basketball fan.

I've never read a book more than once, except for this one
I'm reading Drive for the second time, and of the hundreds of books I've read, I don't believe I've ever reread a single one. I love the way Larry Legend writes. He is humble, positive and totally down to earth. His life is fascinating to me and many others. I'm not sure why anyone would give a low rating, but my only guess is they don't like the style, which is simple and easy to read. Perhaps they would like more complex writing. But I find humor in his style and believe it is really his own words. Can't wait to finish this one again.

Nice book about a basketball legend
I grew up watching Larry Bird play professional basketball as a kid and teenager so this book took me back to when he was playing. He tells his story in his own words and it is inspiring so see where he came from and how humble he was at the peak of his career.

Larry Legend
If you watched Bird play in the 80’s as I did you know just how great of a player he was. As one announcer stated in an interview as to Birds greatness, he said, on the court Bird was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers.

Drive: The Story of My Life - The True Larry Bird
This book was everything I thought it would be. I'm so glad I bought a copy for my son to read also.

Real Hoosier
I really enjoyed his down home approach. It was exactly what I expected from Larry.

My husband loved reading this as a teen and now he recommended it to our "almost teen" who is also a Larry Bird fan and he just loves reading this book.

The book has arrived well packed and without any delay, as usual with Amazon. Some word about the book content: if you love basketball, read this book; if you respect athletes who gain prizes and medals by means of hard work, read this book; if you think that a champion is not necessarily an extravagant guy, read this book. After the reading take a look to some Larry's game highlight or (if you can) watch some old game tape, and you'll be able to deeply appreciate each step, each small movement, each eye-message between Larry and his teammates. Maybe you'll be able to better understand the 80's NBA basketball. I'm really happy to have this book in my library now.
